While visiting the Karemma, the crew of the Enterprise have been invited to enjoy a well needed break after the challenges of their early missions in the Gamma Quadrant. As they enjoy their time on the surface, taking in the myriad of entertainment options, the crew are approached by a Karemma merchant who asks for the their help. The merchant's business partner has been taken hostage by a Dosi gangster, who demands control over the merchant's business holdings in exchange for his partner's life. If the business isn't turned over, the gangster will kill the business partner and take the holdings by force. The crew of the Starship Enterprise must decide whether or not to get involved, especially when it starts to seem as if there's more to the kidnapping than it seems.
