Mission Summary
Captain’s Log, Stardate 116611.99. Commodore Wilkan Targaryen recording.
The celebration of Federation Day has been overshadowed by a series of events that nearly resulted in the loss of the Enterprise and the Defiant. Our original mission was to proceed to the Chamra Vortex in the Rakhari Sector for a six-week mapping survey—an assignment that felt like a calculated rebuke from Rear Admiral Veegg following our recent disagreements. Despite the tension, my crew attempted to observe the holiday with a sense of normalcy; my personal assistant even coordinated festivities, though the "traditional" meal provided was far from standard.
Our journey was interrupted by a perplexing distress signal that led us back to Deep Space 47. Upon arrival, we were met with a chilling silence; sensors indicated no life signs aboard the station, and even the indigenous wildlife had vanished. My concern was doubled by the presence of my wife, Commodore Loatha Targaryen, who had joined us aboard the Defiant to investigate the situation. The mystery turned into a crisis when a sophisticated virus, disguised within the original distress call, executed a total system override. This malicious code, which bore the distinct signature of Terran Empire technology, hijacked both the Enterprise and the Defiant, locking us on a collision course with a star in the Idran system.
We were saved only by the quick thinking and unorthodox resources of our Operations Officer, Commander Sora Bernadotte. Utilizing a data chip she had retained from her own history with the Terran Empire, she was able to deploy a counter-virus that broke the encryption and restored manual control just before we reached the point of no return. The arrival of Vice Admiral Deix in the aftermath brought a new set of complications, as he was clearly unsettled by the origin of our salvation and the security breach that allowed such a virus to infiltrate our systems . While the Enterprise is now safely returning to the vicinity of DS9 for repairs and a full debriefing, the Admiral has already begun headhunting my senior staff, offering Commander zh'Roothi her own command—a choice she now weighs as we assess the scars left by this encounter.
