Mission: Short Treks
Location: U.S.S. Uhura/U.S.S. Enterprise
Timeline: 2439-03-14, 08:30

The Reliant Class starship went into station keeping next to the USS Enterprise. Its job was to perform personnel transfer along with resupply for the Enterprise. On board was a requested transfer, one Lieutenant Urvasi Valandie Elandorn, joining as the Chief Navigational Officer. She had already packed her gear and was waiting in her temporary quarters until the announcement came that the ship was in position.

"General Quarters, General Quarters. Prepare for transfer of personnel and supplies. The Uhura is in position with the Enterprise. In 15, OOW Out."

Urvasi looked at herself in the mirror one last time as herself and her uniform. While she had not expected anything to have become amiss in the wait, she knew it was a nervous habit of most to try and look their best for their new command, and so she rolled with it. She left the quarters and headed to the designated transporter. She climbed on, waited for the signal, nodded she was ready, and was transported across the gulf of space between the two vessels to the receiving transporter on the USS Enterprise.

Rio had gained control of her excitement and nerves and was also checking her uniform and appearance before presenting for duty. She was ready. Making her way to the Transporter Pad she smiled confidently at the Ensign behind the large panel of LCARS and sliding levers, all of which she was very familiar with. Briefly a memory of the first time she had experienced this process and how strange and unpleasant she had found it then, came into her mind and was gone again just as quickly and silently. Nowadays it was all routine and barely even thought about. Rio wondered, just in passing, if it was possible to 'get used to' every trauma and bad experience in a similar way but the thought, a split second in length, was also gone as fast as it presented and she was becoming enveloped in what looked to an observer like a shower of beautiful blue hued 'shimmering light' as she dematerialised and reconstructed safely on the destination pad.

Unaware that the former occupant of her new job was just leaving from somewhere only a few corridors away, Rio began to think over what she was hoping to achieve here now she was finally living out her ambition for a Starship Sickbay posting. She had initially loved the Starbase Hospital Facility she had been working in, but recent events, betrayals and heartbreak, had made it too painful to remain in the same situation and vicinity any longer so it had been a great relief to her that she had been successful in her application for this post. ~A new chapter, a fresh start and hopefully some nicer new colleagues, maybe even new friends in due course~ Rio told herself silently and with optimism.

Finally having found her way to the Bridge, which wasn't as hard as she had feared on her way over to this quadrant, Rio presented herself to the CO, pulling herself up to a formal attention stance and saluting. "Commodore" she said "Lieutenant Kholin reporting for duty Sir!" Her subconscious mischievously pointed out that she was, in fact, already aboard now but the thought, just like the previous flashes of internal commentary and observations, remained inside her and not out for discussion or revelation to anyone else; instead she asked for permission anyway, as was the correct procedure.

Wilkan Targaryen looked up from his Captain's Chair, holding onto the fuel consumption report that Crewman Nikolayenko had given him. He had received notice a few moments ago that the Uhura had come alongside of them and was ready to transport over the new arrivals, but he had not realized any had come aboard already. He was pleased at the doctor's eagerness, but a bit surprised that she was already aboard. Nonetheless, that wasn't going to be held against her.

"Welcome aboard, Doctor," Wilkan greeted as he rose from his chair. "I hope that you found your way aboard without difficulty?"

Rio smiled just a little wryly but didn't go into any details in response to that politeness. This clearly wasn't the time but she did appreciate the welcome and said so.

"Yes Sir, thank you. I did." She acknowledged still smiling, showing her great pleasure to be here. ~eventually~ she added silently within her own thoughts but it didn't change her happy outlook. Naturally, as was always the case with seasoned medical officers, there had been established from day one at the Academy, a trained and ingrained 'mask-face' that Rio could adopt if and when it was needed but in this case, her enthusiasm was allowed to show since, for one thing it was a perfectly acceptable situation for this to be allowed but also because, at the same time, it was bubbling out and would have been almost impossible to repress right now.

Turning toward the Tactical Station behind his chair, "Mister Kuzos you have the Bridge. Doctor, please come with me."

"Sir" seemed a curt and abrupt response but it was the correct acknowledgement and followed by a prompt compliance with the CO's instructions, Rio did exactly what she was asked. This time she had to engage the "doctors' mask" and wipe the happy grin off her face until informality might be reintroduced by the Commodore. She fell into step behind him as they both left the Bridge.

Amber hadn’t bothered even unpacking her travel bag for the short duration of trip to her new starship. She was excited to be transferring to the USS Enterprise, but at the same time she was nervous about taking on her first role as Chief Counsellor. She’d earned the position, but it still felt a huge step up from Assistant Chief. Walking into the transporter room she offered a polite nod of her head as she stepped up onto the transporter ready to transfer across.

Doctor Riavria walked down the corridor of the Starship Enterprise a bit sadder than she'd expected to be. When she signed on to the Enterprise she had known that the position aboard was temporary until Commodore Targaryen found a permanent candidate, but she still didn't anticipate the mission to be over so quickly. No sooner did she finish dealing with that annoying Q that she ended up getting the notice that the Uhura was on its way to transport her back to DS47. She'd hoped to see at least a little more of the Gamma Quadrant before getting returned.

Sighing, she turned and stepped into the Transporter Room, surprised to see no one there except for the Axanari Transporter Chief. The Romulan woman had expected that the Captain or at least the First Officer would have visited her departure - especially since they'd just had a spirited poker game - but perhaps that was too much to ask for.

"Transport me over to the Uhura, Chief," she ordered.

"Yes Sir," the Petty Officer answered.

"Thank you," the former Chief Medical Officer said graciously as she turned toward the Transporter Chamber. As Riavria moved to the Transporter pad, a voice behind her stopped her dead in her tracks.

It was Commodore Targaryen, "Doctor? Commander Kuzos told me that I just missed you on the Bridge."

To keep things copacetic, the Romulan decided to take the diplomatic approach, "Indeed, Commodore, I didn't want to disturb you. You were in your office and I assumed you were busy since Commander zh'Roothi was also unavailable."

Wilkan looked at the Transporter Chief and gave a polite nod, telling the enlistee that he'd like to be alone with his former Chief Medical Officer. The Axanari took the hint and stepped aside, leaving the Transporter panel unattended for the Commodore.

"You know it's strange to think that you're not going to be around Sickbay anymore. It feels like you just got here," the Enterprise's Captain explained.

"It's just a Sickbay, Sir," Riavria answered. "I'm sure that you've got a great new Doctor starting aboard." She knew that Wilkan was being sentimental about her leaving, knowing that such things were often important to Humans. It was about as much sentiment as she could handle. "Permission to disembark?"

Wilkan nodded, "Permission granted." As Doctor Riavria stepped onto the pad, Commodore Targaryen took over at the Transporter controls. Noting that the coordinates were already loaded, the Enterprise's Commander smiled.

"Energize," Doctor Riavria ordered.

Commodore Targaryen engaged the transporter, sending the former Chief Medical Officer to her new station. Approving Meipea to return, he stepped from behind the operators controls as he awaited the arrival of their new personnel from the Uhura.

Urvasi materialized on the transporter pad. She blinked and sniffed as she got her bearings, her tail moving even as her whiskers upon her muzzle. She smelled and felt the difference of being in a new place she had never been before her eyes caught up with her surroundings. She now sounded out, "Lieutenant Elandorn requesting permission to come aboard."

"Permission granted," Commodore Targaryen said as he stepped forward toward the Transporter Chamber, "Welcome aboard the Enterprise. I'm Commodore Wilkan Targaryen, Commander of this vessel."

Urvasi's head tilted a little bit while a 'Yiffer' of surprise escaped her. She was not expecting the Captain of the Enterprise to meet the incoming personnel. She stepped off of the transporter pad, her nose flaring slightly as she took in Wilkan's scent. He wasn't Terran, not really a race she has encountered before. And, the sentient at the controls, their scent was unfamiliar and she couldn't tell if female or male. Only mating season perhaps.

Her mind's categorizations done, Urvasi offered a hand while stating, "Thank you very much, Sir. My full name is Urvasi Valandi Elandorn. I am ecstatic to be on board."

Behind them the door hissed open and emitted the Andorian First Officer who looked mildly flushed. "Apologies for my delay Commodore," she said striding forward. Her eyes quickly scanned the room and was disappointed to have missed Doctor Riavria's departure.

Upon a newcomer entering the room, Urvasi withdrew her hand and shifted her focus which was shown by her ears and whiskers. Her nose and eyes identified 'Andorian', 'commander', as her mind brought up her limited roster knowledge. It was the XO. Urvasi took a step back to give the XO space with the CO.

"It's fine, Commander, really," the Commodore answered. "Lieutenant please meet Commander Zhora zh'Roothi, my Executive Officer."

Urvasi performed a light curtsy out of habit for third party introductions. Her tail lazily moved behind her as her ears and whiskers went to 45 degree angles, showing trust and relaxing with acquaintances. She said, "Greetings Commander zh'Roothi, XO. I am Lieutenant Urvasi Valandi Elandorn, your new Chief Navigational Officer. I'm glad to meet you."

"Welcome aboard Lieutenant," zh'Roothi replied offering the new arrival a smile and briefly wondered how Randall and Rrawran will respond with the arrival of another canine like crew member on the bridge.

Wilkan turned to the Transporter platform, "And you are?"

Urvasi took a step back out of the way to let the newcomer room to step down off of the platform.

Stepping down off the transporter Amber offered a warm smile as she greeted her new CO. “Lieutenant Amber Laurell, Chief Counselor, it’s nice to meet you Sir.” She turned to look at zh’Roothi. “It’s nice to meet you too Commander.”

The Andorian XO responded similarly: "A pleasure Counsellor, welcome aboard the Enterprise."

“Thank you Commander” Amber smiled warmly. “It’s an honour to be here.”

"Welcome aboard, Counselor," the Commodore greeted. "I hope that you are both ready to get to work?"

Upon hearing the term 'both' Urvasi knew she was included into the conversation once more. She took a half step forward and focused her attention onto the CO and XO. As she did, one ear cupped towards each one, she looked between them, then she spoke up, her tail shaking twice with her words, "Sirs, Yes Sirs, ready and able."

Amber nodded offering a warm smile. “As I always say to my patients my door is always open” she paused to re-focus. “Sorry, new environment it takes a little while for my senses to settle, but I’m ready to start work straight away.”

"You'll definitely want to follow up with Doctor Kholin in Sickbay, Counselor. She's new aboard too," the Commodore suggested as he motioned toward the Transporter Chief to hand off datapads to the new arrivals. "These PADDs have the resources that you need for your appointment aboard the Enterprise, including your crew quarters assignments. Commander zh'Roothi will be escorting you to your cabins."

The Andorian XO glanced at the Commodore hinting of her desire to speak to him privately later before returning to the new arrivals.

“Understood Sir” Amber nodded politely as she turned to the Chief to collect her data pad. “Thank you Chief.” She turned back to zh’Roothi ready to head to quarters when she was.

"Thank you, Sir," replied Urvasi after Amber, then turned towards the Chief to collect her pad as well. As she collected it, her muzzle and throat made a pleasant, quick 'yip' sound, as she said demurely, "Thank you Chief". She returned her attention towards the CO and XO. She now stated in a light sing, song voice, even as she did a light curtsy with a respectful bow, "I commend my services to this ship and my life into your hands." She blushed lightly as she came out of the curtsy. She whispered, "Sorry, L'Tandrey Ship Custom." She looked directly at zh'Roothi, her body poise showing ready, despite her muzzle, ears and whiskers showing nervousness and embarrassment.

Wilkan, instead, chose to answer for his Executive Officer, "Let's hope that we don't get into that much trouble that your life is in my hands, Lieutenant. I barely can get myself out of such situations," the Commanding Officer joked.

Urvasi's ears flicked, her whiskers quivered, her tail tip moved twice, as she let out a *yiffers*, her form of quite laughter.

The Commodore looked at the group then the XO, "If you will all excuse me, I'll leave you in the very capable hands of Commander zh'Roothi to get to your quarters, unless you'd like to explore on your own as well. I'll leave it up to each of you."

Urvasi performed a light curtsey and head nod to the CO. She then looked expectantly at the XO with cupped ears and waited to see what zh'Roothi decided. After all, the XO was the liaison between officers and the CO.

The blue antennae upon zh'Roothi crown rotated gently at Will's words as the XO processed them following the enlightening conversation with the newly minted Commander Kuzos had left her feeling inadequate. She suppressed a sigh before addressing the others: "If you'd like to follow me," she signaled for them to depart the transporter room.

Amber noted that something seemed to be off with her new XO, but didn’t raise it, making a mental note to speak with zh’Roothi on another occasion to see if she could help.

Urvasi moved to be just behind and right to Amber, giving deference to the other newbie and followed zh'Roothi into the corridor. She was looking forward to getting to her quarters and putting in her touches to show 'I am here' to make the start of her next journey a reality instead of a surreality.

Amber looked towards Urvasi. “Apologies for not having spoken to you very much as yet. I’ve no doubt we’ll have plenty of time to get to know one another.”

Urvasi yiffered gently as she replied, "No apologies necessary, and as a Counselor, we most certainly will as I check in for my racial psyche evals. Thanks."

Amber nodded. “I’ll look forward to our meeting.” She smiled warmly.
