Captain's Log, Supplemental Entry:
The Enterprise is making final preparations for departure on our mission to the Gamma Quadrant. I have called all Department Heads to the Bridge.
Entering through the starboard security checkpoint, Commodore Wilkan Targaryen smiled upon seeing the Bridge of the Enterprise-H in all of its glory. The Enterprise was finally ready to begin its five-year mission, and he'd invited the Senior Staff of the ship to witness their launch. Many had already arrived, but several others had yet to make it. Wilkan was just excited that they were all together for what was to come.
"Captain on the Bridge," one of the crewmen announced as Targaryen crossed the room toward the center seat.
"As you were," the El-Aurian answered as he reached his chair and turned to look around the room. "Who's ready to get this party started?"
"I thought you'd never ask," smirked zh'Roothi as she passed him en-route to her customary forward station.
Ash shifted into a kneeling position on the seat of her chair to peer over the back of it at Commodore Targaryen and then the rest of the bridge and, finally, Kuzos. "Always ready to start a party, sir." The Tuansee Engineer replied, looking back to the Commodore, with a Faustian grin.
Wilkan looked at the Engineer, "Let's get this going then. Departure stations," the Commodore said as he took his seat.
"All hands to your stations," Galatea's voice echoed throughout the ship over the intercom.
Sitting at the communications station. Kuzos listened to the banal banter coming across the comline. Since arriving aboard the Enterprise, he had been treated politely, civilly but at arm's length if he remembered the Terran term correctly. Not that he could blame the Federation officers. he would have the same reservations if one of them came aboard a Dominion ship. He was a stranger in a strange land. It would take time to understand them, a long time.
Chase received the message and grabbing his cup of coffee, headed straight to the bridge. He moved to his station and after an analysis of his console spoke. "Lieutenant Moore, at security. My weapons operational and at the ready, Sir."
"Sir, I have the course plotted. Pretty much should be smooth sailing we might have to make a couple minor course corrections, depending how close we get to the nebula, in the nearby sector." Stacey said, as she went over the navigation charge twice just to make sure.
"Impulse and warp are available at your command, sir." The Chief Engineer stated. calmly, as she disappeared behind the back of her chair into a seated position again.
Kuzos announced do any who would listen. "Communications are fully functional. Ready to procced."
Lieutenant Sulu answered for the Science Officer, "Forward scans are clear."
Commodore Targaryen looked at his XO at the Operations Console, "Exec, get the Dockmaster and request permission to depart."
The Andorian woman twisted in her seat at his instructions before carrying them out. "Consent granted," she announced after a pause. "Gate number five has been designated as our departure."
"Seal the airlock and release docking clamps," the captain ordered as he crossed his legs in his chair. "Helm, aft thrusters at one quarter, port and starboard at station keeping."
"Air lock sealed," zh'Roothi confirmed. "Docking clamps released," she continued and a slight quiver could be felt as the Enterprise settled herself now free of the station's supporting grasp.
"Aye sir, aft thrusters at one quarter." Stacey said as she focus on her task at hand. Typically they'll be leaving space dock at a much slower pace, so she needed to focus her attention just a little bit more. Not to say that she had in focus before it's just with the commanding officer giving the higher speed for departure. She wanted to make sure she was extra vigilant.
Chase stood at the security station, watching his screen and listening to those around him. If felt good to be heading out. He glanced over at his wife and smiled to himself. Stacey was an exceptional pilot and he was proud of her.
As the Enterprise gently slid out of Gate Five and into space, Captain Targaryen couldn't help but smile. The Enterprise was beginning her mission of exploration after what felt like ages, and he was excited for what was to come.
"We're clear of 419," Galatea announced from the Mission Operations console.
"Thank you," the captain answered the AI's hologram. Looking toward the Helm, "Take us through the wormhole, Lieutenant, Full Impulse power."
"Aye Sir." Stacey said, as she started to navigated her way through the wormhole. This was her first time crossing into the wormhole. She had practice this in the holodeck.
Ash settled back in her seat as the Enterprise approached to transit the worm hole and closed her eyes as the vessel began its transit. The Tuansee engineer didn't need her eyes open in order to 'see' the transit as her senses were not limited to the 'normal' five of most species as her minds-eye, gloried in the cacophony of the exotic energies that swirled around them, the attenuation of space/time and a 'something more' she could not identify or quantify but felt was there. It was a unique and, moving and, in a way, inspirational experience for the engineer that made her smile.
At the forward station Commander zh'Roothi glanced in the refection of her console at the officer seated behind her, and pondered as the Enterprise arrived at the mouth of the wormhole if they were ready for the challenges ahead. With a bright flash the ship entered the tunnel of swirling mystery and the XO turned her very same question upon herself. With a slight shake of her head she answered both with the same answer: only time would tell, either way there's no going back now.
Chase watched as they approached the wormhole, both a little apprehensive and even more, excited. This was what they were out here for. To explore and discover. He kept moving his eyes from the viewscreen to his console, not wanting to miss their entry but also to be apprised should an issue come up. He looked forward to their adventures as they entered the tunnel.
In a flash of light the Gamma Quadrant exit of the Bajoran Wormhole erupted, letting the Enterprise travel into the distant region. The Captain crossed his legs in his chair as the Enterprise passed the Forward Observation Zone and entered Dominion Space.
Targaryen looked at the Helm, "Set course for the Drai System. Warp Eight. Full speed ahead."
"Course plotted for the Drai system." Stacey as they exited the wormhole. She didn't mind passing through them but they kind of gave her a little bit of a creep if you feel, especially knowing about deep space nines wormhole and how they have aliens living inside of them. She wondered if all wormholes had that option.
Ash opened her eyes and resumed her tasks at the engineering station while she mused, inwardly, that the experience of transiting the wormhole would never get old.
Chase kept his eyes on his station. He hadn't expected anything out of the ordinary but one never knew what could happen. One thing he had learned way back on his first assignment. Be prepared for the unexpected.
