Main Bridge

U.S.S. Enterprise BridgeIf Main Engineering is the heart of a starship, the Bridge is the ship's brain. Located at the very top of the vessel, the Main Bridge is responsible for coordinating all activities aboard the starship and ensuring that all mission protocols are achieved. As the primary command center for the Enterprise, the Bridge is one of the most secure locations aboard the spacecraft and is constantly manned by trained personnel.

Under the exclusive purview of the Enterprise's Commanding Officer, the Bridge allows the Captain and the Senior Staff access to every system on the spacecraft and features dedicated workstations to manage the ship's primary functions. At the exact center is the Captain's Chair, which serves as the primary workstation for the vessel's Commanding Officer and seating is available for the ship's Helmsman and Operations Manager directly ahead. Additional workstations line the perimeter of the Bridge and have responsibilities ranging from management of the vessel's engineering functions, scientific investigation, and management of the ship's weapons. At the very front of the Bridge is a massive viewscreen that allows visual images, sensor readings, and other information to be displayed for the use of the command team.

A large location, the Bridge is a designated emergency environmental support shelter in the event that the Enterprise's primary and emergency life support systems fail. On Century Class vessels the Bridge is located within the Deck 1 structure for additional support and is flanked by mission configurable compartments, conference rooms, and offices for the ship's Senior Staff. Despite being integrated with the rest of the Deck 1 superstructure, the Main Bridge is designed that it can be removed and replaced by a Starbase or Shipyard as part of a maintenance cycle.

Chevron (Battle) Bridge

U.S.S. Enterprise Chevron (Battle) BridgeDespite being constructed with a unibody construction, the Enterprise has been equipped to engage separated flight mode, separating the forward components of the Primary Hull from the Engineering section. Also called Chevron Separation, when operating at two distinct vessels the Chevron Section is commanded from the Chevron Bridge. Also known as the Battle Bridge (despite not being in the Stardrive Section), the Chevron Bridge is smaller and more basic than the Main Bridge but contains many of the same workstations as its larger counterpart. Serviced by an Express Turbolift, but also incorporating corridor access which is supported by the traditional Turbolift network, the Chevron Bridge can be replaced at a Starbase.

Main Engineering

U.S.S. Enterprise Main Engineering If the Main Bridge is the brain of the Starship Enterprise, then Main Engineering is the heart of the vessel. Home to the Enterprise's propulsion systems, Main Engineering provides dedicated workstations that monitor all systems aboard the ship and, in an emergency, can even be used to control the spacecraft. Located on Deck 16 aboard the Century Class, Main Engineering also controls the upkeep operations onboard the ship, managing energy production, general maintenance, and repairs.

Based upon the Main Engineering compartment of Federation vessels starting with late model Constitution II Class vessels in the late 23rd Century, Main Engineering is a large compartment that requires a fraction of the Engineering teams on site thanks to advanced automation. The main area of Engineering is a large observation room that sits adjacent to the Warp Core Chamber and maintains workstations for all the propulsion systems aboard the vessel. A work area for the Chief Engineer is parallel to the observation area, allowing the Chief Engineer a place to work while on duty. Inside the Engine Compartment is the Warp Core and its supportive technologies. Ladders throughout the Engine Room provide access to the second level, which includes a Conference Room, Engineering Laboratory, and an Observation Catwalk.
