Two Hearts as One

Josh arrived at Amber's quarters after she had contacted him saying she wanted to talk to him. Curious as to what Amber wanted to see and talk to him about, He headed there after the end of his shift but not before going by his quarters and getting a bottle of a nice red wine. Who knew maybe the would have reason to drink it. Moments later he was standing outside her door his hand pressing on the door chime.

Answering the door Amber offered a smile to the love of her life, he knew her better than anyone but what she was about to tell him would define their future. “Hi Josh” she gave him a hug, hanging on a little longer than usual before letting go.

"Hi sweetie!" Josh exclaimed happily as he returned the hug along with a soft kiss on her cheek. "I brought some wine, thought maybe we would would have a reason to drink some of it. So, how's your day been? Mine has been BORING. Calibrating the shuttles nav systems."

Amber smiled. “It’s been…different.” She offered. “I might as well just come out and say it. Rio has found something on a scan she did of my brain. I’ve been getting headaches, and dizziness, and I know I should have told you…” she paused. “It could be a tumour, or it could be nothing.”

Josh was standing in front of her in an instant. His hands taking hers in his. His eyes on hers. "Yes, you should have but you told me now and we will face it together. whatever it may be. You are my life Amber, I am always here for you." He raised her hands to his lips and kissed them softly. "No secrets Amber."

Amber nodded. “None, I promise Imzadi” she smiled. “If the worst comes to the worst and I have to have surgery, there’s a chance I might lose my abilities. No more empathic senses, no more telepathic input, that’s why I want to ask you something.” She paused. “I want to bond with you Josh, there’s no one else for me and the bond is saved for the one that you plan to spend your life with. It’s a deep emotional bond that solidifies the love you have for a partner. Up until now I’ve protected your mind from mine when we’ve made love, if we bond then that will change. That’s if you’re willing?”

Josh raised Amber's hands to his lips and kissed then again. He then stepped closer and slowly, deeply passionately kissed her. He held the kiss for a few seconds before breaking it. Looking at her he spoke, "Nothing would give me more pleasure or be a bigger honor than to bond with the woman I love. Who holds my heart in her hands. Just one question, will this bond pose any danger for you?"

Amber shrugged her shoulders. “Under normal circumstances I”d say no, but given the situation I can’t say for certain. Whatever it is, it’s only small right now so hopefully it shouldn’t cause any issues. Rio said if I had any problems to pop back and see her. Besides I don’t care if it gives me a headache, or whatever I want to be able to feel the bond between us. Ohh…one more thing, I need your help with something…”

"Well, I care," Josh replied softly. "However being bonded to you sounds like a dream come true and I definitely want that. So. let's do that as I can't wait to experience it." he tilted his head at her, "Oh? Please enlighten me as to what you need my help with."

“All I need from you, is an open mind…Ohh and to make love with you.” Amber smiled a wry smile. “It’s the more…exciting way to bond, for our minds and hearts to meet at that moment of total bliss.” She gave him a romantic kiss before leaning back. “That’s if you’re okay with that?”

Josh's smile went from ear to ear, "I can totally help you with that!" He exclaimed happily. "And you know, if we need to repeat the process to check the strength of the bond, I'm okay with that as well." His smile still full and bright.

Amber grinned. “Ohh I think I can live with that, the more practice the better for strengthening a bond.” She looked at the clock. “I’m afraid I have an appointment soon, but if you’re not busy tonight?”

"I'm not busy for you Amber, not ever. Want time do you want me to come over so we can practice and strengthen our bond?" Josh asked. "I can even bring some wine if you like."

Amber nodded. “I’d like that, how does 1900 sound?” She smiled warmly.

Josh smiled broadly, "Sounds like a date!" he said happily as he leaned forward to kiss Amber softly..

“Wonderful” Amber smiled warmly leaning in to meet the kiss.

"Love it when a plan comes together," Josh whispered.


~ 1855 hours ~

Amber looked at the clock, it was almost time for Josh to arrive, she wanted to make sure everything was perfect for their evening together. A bottle of champagne sat on the table, alcohol free of course as Betazoids tended not to hold their liquor very well.

A few seconds later and the door chime sounded, letting her know josh had arrived for their evening together and when Amber opened to door, she would see he was bearing gifts. A picnic basket full of fried chicken, applesauce and some biscuits.

Opening the door Amber grinned as she saw what Josh was carrying. “Come on in Josh, and thank you for bringing my favourite!”

Hi love." Josh returned smiling, "I try to know what you like." He admitted. "The biscuits are cheddar, I think you will like them at least I hope you do. There's also plain biscuits in case you don't."

“Ohh I love all of those” Amber grinned. “Make yourself at home I’ll grab some plates and cutlery and we can eat. Better still why bother with cutlery! That’s what fingers were made for.”

Josh chuckled and grinned, "An excellent observation. I'm all for it."

Amber grinned as she motioned Josh to take a seat as she went to get a couple of plates, returning with them a few moments later. Let’s tuck in before the chicken goes cold, not that I mind cold chicken.”

"Good idea." Josh replied as he put some biscuits on her plate and held the basket open so Amber could the pieces of fried chicken she wanted. "Sometimes I think fried chicken is even better cold." he admitted.

“Really?” Amber looked at him curiously. “Then maybe we should let it cool a little first, then eat?”

"Absolutely." Josh answered "And yes we can wait a few minutes. I don't think you will be disappointed in the taste. besides you can nibble on the biscuits while we wait. I don't want you passing out." He teased.

“Oh don't worry I won’t” Amber grinned as she picked up a biscuit and nibbled it.

Josh chuckled as he picked up a cheddar biscuit. Amber's good humor was just one of the many things he loved about her. He smiled at her and winked, "Well, if you did pass out. have no fear, I'm sure I could revive you."

Amber giggled. “Mouth to mouth could be fun” she smiled a wry smile.

"You got it sweetie." Josh said with a broad smile.

“So, just how long is that chicken good for?” She gave him a curious look. “Long enough for us to practice?”

"It is already cooked and we're just letting it cool down. We have enough time to practice." Josh assured her.

“Good” Amber smiled as she moved around giving him a romantic kiss. “I think we can practice a whole lot better in the bedroom don’t you?”

"Oh absolutely we can. We can relax on the bed as we practice." He grinned at her.

“Then what’s stopping you?” Amber grinned as she moved back pulling him along by his hand as she did so.

"Um. not a thing. Lead on." Josh answered even as Amber pulled him to the bedroom.

Amber grinned as she kept going leading him into the bedroom before pausing beside the bed to kiss him passionately, giggling as they practically fell on the bed together.

Josh joined her in laughter as they fell onto the bed in a heap. "I'm liking this already." He said as he kissed her, wrapping his arms around her.

“So am I” Amber added as her fingers went to his clothing, wanting to help him out of what he was wearing as quickly as possible.

Even as Amber was helping him in removing his clothes, Josh's hands went to her. his fingers fumbling with her clothing as he wished to enjoy Amber and their time together to the best of his ability.

What started as an empty floor soon filled up with clothing as what they were wearing was discarded and tossed aside. Amber paused kissing as she looked into Josh’s eyes. “You might find bonding with me uncomfortable, for someone who isn’t telepathic or empathic, the mind can find the experience overwhelming. If I hurt you just tell me, the bonding requires my mind to be open, but I can shield it again if I need to.”

Josh shook his head, his eyes full of love for her. "No, don't shield Amber. I trust you completely and i know you would never hurt me. I want this. I want to be bonded with you, to be closer to you. I'm ready for this. Tell me what I need to do to help you and....." he added with a grin, "Nothing involving you is uncomfortable."

Amber smiled and nodded. “Just keep your mind open to me, the more open you are the easier it’ll be for our minds to intertwine.”

"I'm ready and my mind is open for the bonding. let's do this!" He urged.

~ Sometime later ~

Amber lay cuddled up with Josh, their lovemaking and resulting bond had practically worn her out, not that she was complaining. “That was…amazing!”

Josh turned to look at Amber, his face had a blissful, happy smile on it. "Amazing for sure darling." He agreed as he could feel the bond he now shared with Amber. He had a slight headache but nothing he couldn't manage and besides having a bond with Amber was worth a headache.

“It might take a little while before our bond truly settles for you, I can already feel my half of it being close in both mind and body.” Amber smiled warmly.

Josh nodded, "I'm in no hurry and I'm definitely not going anywhere besides I like the company I'm with." He finished with a broad smile.

“You and me both!” Amber grinned even though she had a minor headache coming on. “I just want to lie here with you forever more.”

Josh leaned over and kissed her softly, his hand coming up to caress Amber's cheek. "Me too darling, me too." then added with a grin. "After this out of the world lovemaking experience do you think you could settle for some ordinary fried chicken?"

“Ohh you bet! I’m starving!” Amber grinned. “Let’s go and eat.”

"Let's go!" Josh answered as he got out of bed and headed for the kitchen. he stopped halfway and turned back to Amber. "Have you got a rob or something I can wear while we eat? I don't want to get dressed just to take them all off again later." he explained as he got two plates and started putting the chicken and biscuits on the plates. This was already a great and it promised to get better.
