It's been an interesting day aboard Starfleet One and I for one have been impressed by the ship and its crew today of all days. We've gotten a great deal accomplished and we're starting off on a new mystery, one that I think will be one for the history books.

We've picked up the survivors of the Atlantean Exploration Forces vessel Timaeus. Their vessel is, for all intents and purposes, an exact duplicate of the Old Earth Space Shuttle Orbiter except for the inclusion of a faster than light drive. We are on course for their point of origin now and long range scans have shown us something we really didn't anticipate: a replica of Earth itself. We are traveling at Warp Six which means that we should arrive tomorrow morning at around 10:00 hours. Part of me is thinking about kicking us to Coaxial so we can get there within the next hour, but we've been pushing the drive a bit too hard recently and I don't want to overtax our engines.

God is it tempting though!

I know that it's an honor to serve at the President of the Federation's side, but sometimes this vessel feels more like a taxi than anything else. She was built to be a frontline explorer, the lead vessel as the Federation pushed its boundaries further and further, but that seems like so long ago. I've commanded this vessel for almost 20 years - save a few brief interludes - but she's not what she used to be. I understand why the President wants this ship and crew to serve as his personal flagship, but her name and legacy as synonymous with the Federation and Starfleet itself. We need to be more, we have to be more.

Maybe it's just the alcohol Ambassador Iril got me to drink. Normally I'm not affected by such things, but tonight was different. I need to talk with Sherwin about it. Something is wrong and I know that. I just hope he can figure it out too.

I need to get some sleep. It's going to be an exciting day tomorrow.

End Log.
