Eladorn's Quarters:
The human swallowed quickly and waved his spoon about: "Whoa, slow down you lost me back there. Who or what is L'Tandrey and Audvant training, what's that?"
Urvasi looked puzzled for a moment. They were talking about socializing and he suddenly switched to a passing mention of the L'Tandrey and their Family Household arrangement? She shook herself slightly to recover, then nodded, replying, "The region of space where my homeworld is located is the L'Tandrey Protectorate. They are on Friendly relations with the Federation, with several officer exchange programs. The main race is called L'Tandrey. They are a Vulpinoid race kinda like me, but not. I am more similar to you than they are. They are a tree climbing and dwelling race, like me, but their bones and muscles are based on hexacellular geometry so they are lighter, but faster and way stronger. They all are psionic with an awareness sense, which I don't have. Next, their family structure is extensive as they have a ratio of 9 females to one male. and so they have inner circle wives, outer circle wives, wives, and concubines. The Beta female, Alpha over all the females, is known as the Audvant, and they usually have extensive training for that position. I know a little about this as I had went for advanced schooling on their homeworld. However, if you want further information, I would have to dig out my Tau-Riene Text Book Crystals where I have one book on the dynamic relationships within an L'Tandrey household. At my end, my race takes around five wives, nobody having any special positions." She blushed lightly as she finished with, "Does that help?"
"A little," Dylan nodded. "There's certainly a lot to take in and learn about your culture. I feel ashamed by my naivety."
Urvasi drew back a little, a inquisitive look upon her face. Her dessert and spoon were now long forgotten. She tried to make sense of why Dylan said what he said, then she realized her own behavior of growing up a minority race and always having to let others know that 'she wasn't L'Tandrey' was more than likely the culprit. A blush crept up upon her muzzle and cheeks as she replied, "No, no, please, don't feel ashamed. It is.. my growing up in the L'Tandrey Protectorate as a Minority Race. I am just so used to saying that I am not an L'Tandrey, that I think I keep using that even though I no longer in their Territory. So.. umm, I guess I have not really talked about my culture to anyone on board, or previously, just trying to 'not be' L'Tandrey. I was still among them by the age of almost 17... oh, about 31 Terran years." She added quickly, "when I turned 12, that is over 22 years Terran, and my biological age became young adult. I am currently 21 years old, or around 39 Terran, just to not offput you for future when I mention 'when I was 12.." She yiffered, then said, "So... umm, my race and culture.. quick overview.. here goes?.?"
Urvasi took a sip of the spring wine, then began. "I am Vulienrey. My culture for family is of a Nuclear Family, comprised of one male, the husband, and up to five females, wives. While I only list my birth mother in my StarFleet Bio as instructed by Academy Counselors, I have four mothers. My direct sister is Nuovis, the rest of my siblings are from my other mothers. However, we are not considered half brothers and sisters but brothers and sisters. Lineage is traced through the Father."
Dylan adjusted his seating position as she spoke: "One husband, to five wives. That sounds like a lot of work to keep everyone happy. How many siblings do you have?"
Urvasi smiled dreamily as she thought of her brothers and sisters. "I have six siblings. My older sisters are Enania and Nuovis. My younger sisters are Darunia and Lenna. I have one older and one younger brother, Paeral and Luirlan respectively. I am in the middle of that bunch of rapscallion siblings, yah."
"Huh," he retorted. "Must have been a bit cozy. As an only child I can't really imagine what that must have been like."
Urvasi's face fell a little as she thought about being the only one. She said, "I'm sorry you didn't have siblings. Yeah, it was cozy, barring the sibling rivalries and one ups in trying to be favorites to Dad. That got a little hectic once in a while."
"There's a tiny part of me that's a little jealous of the males in the L'Tandrey, how do they manage so many wives?"
Urvasi surged upright as the L'Tandrey were mentioned again. What was it about her being NOT L'Tandrey and her fighting to be a minority race among them that was missed? Then, she realized, she herself had touched on the subject with the inner circle, outer circle, wives, and concubines. She relaxed and blew out a cleansing breath from her muzzle and thought about how to reply. "Well, at least my Dad is Vulienrey and had a reasonable wife count of four. L'Tandrey, with their wives, can reach a high amount. I think forty was the highest I saw? I think typical is around 15 to 25. Anyway, with the L'Tandrey, each wife is assigned roles according to her aptitude, learning, and skillset. Each wife fills a role, supporting from that role, and in that support, each tier of wife and each wife in the tier supports the family as a whole. Yeah, it is so much easier to have a family of just one male with up to five females without positions. Each supports the other, always. But, yeah, I think L'Tandrey males would be considered the studs of the universe, one would think." She yiffered gently at those thoughts.
Urvasi continued, "Vulienrey are more similar to Terran dating than the convoluted dating schema of the L'Tandrey, we still have social conventions about what is allowed for intimacy at each dating stages. The Males will chase females they desire, while the females will flirt to find if desired, then chase for that desire. As there are up to five wives, the flirt and attraction are first discovered, then the chase can commence when the male shows interest. Also, on flirts, touches to the ears, whiskers, the outer third of the tail, hand holding, slow rubbing of fur, all allowed for working towards and entering dating."
Urvasi paused in thought, then brightened and continued, "Hmm, example, I know, as we have expressed dating desires, to peak your interest, if you and I were to cuddle up on the couch later to watch a movie so I could drift asleep, I would gently take hold of your hand to place on my outer upper leg or thigh so you could feel the course outer hair, with the then fine, softer inner hair to stroke and play, and then let your fingers drift inward and outward a little to discover the course hair becoming finer and softer towards the front and back to allow understanding about a furred race versus one with sparse hair and then patches of hair in certain areas. Then, on the end game, desiring marriage and children, oh, the most marvelous thing ever, motherhood and children. Anyways, Vulienrey ladies tend to wait till marriage for Coitus as it is considered the protective barrier is a precious gift for our husband, but sometimes a lady will not. Of course, there are other intimate ways to show desire and want, and to try to keep the male interested and desiring us ladies." As she talked, she put the spoon down on the plate with the dessert, rested her hands with fingers intertwined before her, as her tail and ears moved according to what subject she was chatting about.
Urvasi finished with, "I hope that wasn't too much of a quick synapses overview as a few minutes doesn't really translate into more understanding, but, I hope it helped. Sooo, tell me a little about yourself and your dating desires?" Her tail stiffened straight out behind her as she blushed once more and added, "Ohhh wait, shoot, you might have questions... yah, questions first." Her tail relaxed as she asked, "Do you have some more of me before telling me a little about your culture and dating self?"
"I always have questions," Dylan chuckled. "Besides, compared to you I'm relatively boring. I take it motherhood is a blessing among the Vulienrey?" Dylan asked. "Do you feel that way, and how does that fit into your Starfleet career?"
Urvasi yiffered as she caught the misunderstanding. She said, "Well, you see, Children are the future of any family. They are the holders of the stake and continuance of the family. Thus, they are the blessing given by The Creator. Sometimes a wife cannot have one, but that is okay. The children are of all the mothers, so motherhood can still be experienced. Of course, if disparate races in the family, there are always donor sperm for the wife if that direction taken. I, myself, would love to be a mother. Now, on my Starfleet Career, it is an ends to a means, yes? I am learning new ways of thinking, of skills, of guidance, to be that much better for my future family. You see, I can and will interrupt it for the sake of family and raising children. If I am need to be a stay at home wife, so be it. The husband is the one with the needed career path for his family and offspring."
Urvasi giggle-yiffered, then shyly added, "Let's say, you and I were to be wed, I would hope you would take other Terran wives to have children with, and I would gladly be a mother to them and still enjoy that blessing of motherhood, to be guidance and nurturing while you are guidance, facts and discipline. Several wives are a help to the family for raising young, helping maternity, keeping the household running smoothly, keeping a warm hearth ready for husband. When a wife is ill, others chip in. When the husbands needs cuddling, and one or two are not feeling like it, the others are. And, there are differences among the wives for the husband as well. And, well, it goes without saying, when the husband is out and about on business or career, the wives help each other out for their cycles and intimacy. So, honestly, I am not sure why more Terrans haven't adopted a two or three wife strategy, it only helps the household to be stronger."
"We tend to be monogamous as a whole," Dylan replied. "Especially on the topic of long term partners, to be otherwise is deemed disrespectful. Although," he paused. "A young adult tends to push that boundary a little as they explore both themselves and the wider world."
Urvasi nodded to Dylan and replied, "Good to hear. It kind of would be a boundary if a monogamous culture is the norm. Anyways, I hope I answered your immediate questions." She shifted forward to once more have her muzzle resting on top of the back of her fingers with her ears fully engaged onto Dylan once more. "Well, we have been discussing my culture and family all this time. Please, tell me a little about yourself and what you are desiring in dating with a lady."
"Alright, I suppose it's my turn to do some talking." Dylan smirked and poured himself another drink glad the conversation had moved away in a more comfortable direction after the flustered start. "Top up?" he asked moving the bottle towards her glass.
Urvasi beamed excitedly as she moved her glass over to receive the top up as she replied, "Please do." After the fill up, she lifted her glass towards Dylan, took a sip, then put it down while saying, "I'm ready and listening."
"So lets start from the basics, as I've already said I don't have any siblings as both my parents were, and still are serving Starfleet Officers. I believe their deployment orders occasionally put light years between them thus the reasons why it's just me." He shrugged slightly before continuing: "It didn't bother me, there were other children to befriend along with personnel who took care of me from time to time. Being sounded by so many talented minds it was only natural to pick up the lingo along the way and before I knew it I was picking up enough relevant skills to enlist at the academy. I struggled during my first year, being on Earth felt...strange compared to being out among the stars and it was then that I began to do some of that exploring I mentioned. "
While Dylan talked, she aptly listened, with a little giggle and a 'yah' at the reasons why he was an only child, and then an 'ahhh' and a nod about the struggle at the academy. Her whiskers and ears perked at the end of his speaking. Her head cocked a little to the side as she hrmmed in thought. "I see. Your bring up definitely is way different than mine, yet you are definitely better at humor and picking up the subtleties of those around you than I. That said, on your exploring, anything you want to share, or wait till later when we have gotten a couple of dates under our belts? After that, I could share a little of my dating life, as little as it has been so far."
He smiled shyly and toyed with his wine glass before continuing. "I'm bisexual," he said. "It's taking me a while to understand the mixture of feelings it bought in the early days. Unfortunately even now I still come across individuals who are intolerable of my choices, therefore I've kept dating to a reserved limit."
When Dylan first said 'bisexual', Urvasi's left eyebrow raised as she thought 'race comprised of two sexes'. However, as he finished speaking, her mind went to intimate talk between her and roomate at the Academy, Linntarra, whose race is Varkolak, a 'werewolf'. Urvasi shifted her head as she said, "Oh.... Ohhhhh, got it. You chase guys and gals." She snorted in light reprimand to herself. "I'm sorry, it took me a moment to get there. When you first said 'bisexual', I immediately thought about yes, Terrans have two sexes, just like Vulienrey." She took a sip of her spring wine, thinking a second, then asked, "On us... ummm, if we were to date, become boyfriend and girlfriend, would you also chase guys at the same time, or would it be just us?"
"That's right," he replied with a nod, relieved that Urvasi understood without the need of much explaining. He studied her as she processed his confession and felt a bond beginning to grow as she remained both open and inquisitive about him and in turn them as a potential couple. "I may enjoy the company of men and women, but once I've entered a relationship with a person I don't deluge with others and remain committed to my new partner."
Urvasi's shoulders and neck relaxed at Dylan's reply. She did not realize she was anxious about his answer until that tension stress left her. She took in a breath, let it out, then stated, "That is very good to hear, thank you. I am the same. Once a dating pair, to remain until decision time on to pursue a deeper relationship, or to break off and become friends." She thought about it, then added, "Well, from what I saw at Starfleet Academy, maybe foes if not Vulienrey." She snorted in light humor as she said, "I guess I am just too alien to understand, or my socioculture with understanding growth is just too different to understand how gentle dating cannot become friends and goes to foes." At a new thought that occurred to her, she continued, "And speaking of differences, I will have other questions as we progress in our dating stages, but, they are not needed at this time." She raised her glass in a toast, "So, here is to our dating and the our growth as we traverse that path."
Dylan chuckled before reaching for his glass. "That sounds good, I can drink to that."
Urvasi lifted her glass in a response toast, "Most Definitely." She glanced at the time and realized that it was after 8:40 pm, or ships time 2040 hours. She had kept Dylan there for almost two hours in dining and chatting, all for just a supposedly quick meal to help recover. However, despite being that long, it had not felt that long, until her body began trying to go to sleep right there at the table. She sighed as she added, "Umm, I am really, really, sleepy. I cannot believe how long I have kept you here. I have greatly enjoyed the evening, but my body is saying it wants rest. May I please see you to the door?"
"Of course, you should have said something sooner," Dylan responded quickly and set aside the wine. "I didn't mean to keep you up...but I'm kinda glad. I enjoyed the evening and hope we can do this again soon."
Urvasi yiffered gently as she replied, "As did I, very much. Hence why I didn't notice the time, or my fatigue. We will do this again, promise."
Urvasi stood up and stretched to get out the kinks and to gain energy to take Dylan to the door, without realizing that movement caused the hem of her chemise to show off her long legs and almost get to dangerous territory. She slipped on her robe, then moved around the table with a movement of her head to show, 'common'. She turned towards to door and led the way, her tail shifting behind her, living the robe and chemise to show her nice curvy derriere with its very short, soft, silky fur. However, the lift wasn't high enough to show more than what a bikini bottom would, and she knew and was fine with what was occurring in the hope of keeping the male behind her interested in her.
Scooping up his tunic from the chair back he followed her toward the door feeling a touch disappointed that the evening had drawn to a close. On the plus side it did present him with a delightful view of her curved frame from behind as they crossed the room, her tail swaying softly in the wake.
Urvasi smiled to Dylan at the doorway, then leaned out to give him a brush of lips kiss. "Until next time, thank you, Dylan, I look forward to it."
Surprised by her proximity he stiffened, his breathing too paused as their lips touched faintly like a passing whisper. Then, in a rushing sigh Dylan released: "Until then," he replied lowly before the door slid closed leaving him feeling elated.
Urvasi retired to her bed, falling into it and dropping right to sleep. She would clean up in the morning. Right now, the sandman came calling and would not be denied.
