Operations, really?

535 words; about a 3 minute read

Mission: Madre

Stacey was a little annoyed as she looked to Chase. "Can you believe they are moving me to operations? I am a navigation officer not a fixer. I like to break things!" She was not mad at him, she was just looking to vent to someone.

Chase felt for her. He knew that she really loved her position and it sucked that she was being transferred to a different department. “I am sure they have their reasons.”

"I was born to fly, okay so I know how to fix things I can tink around with things but man, operations?" Stacey sad feeling like this was a grounding assignment, wondering who she ticked off during her last post.

“It does seem weird.” Chase admitted. “Maybe it’s some way to promote you or upgrade.” He was failing miserably but he was trying to cheer her up.

"It's a good thing that you're such a pretty man, because that was horrible." Stacey said as she reset to hold his hand, but looking up with big loving eyes.

“I really don’t have much to console you with.” Chase admitted. “Other than my sympathy.” He felt bad but she didn’t seem upset by that.

"I see, but you're okay with this? Your wife being demoted down to operations officer." Stacey said a little annoyed, not sure she's really like wearing a gold uniform.

“Not at all.” Chase said calmly. “I can’t do a lot but support you.” His eyes met hers. “We both know you wouldn’t like me taking up on your behalf.”

"I hate to admit that you might have a point." Stacey said, admitting defeat. But she wasn't really annoyed at him she was just mainly teasing him and giving him a little smirk and attitude. Mainly because she needed to vent.

“I am hoping that they have an explanation that makes sense.” Chase murmured. He knew that most of the time Starfleet told them nothing and he kind of felt like this might be one of those times.

"We both know that Starfleet does not owe anyone an explanation." Stacey said knowing that the hard fact of reality is that they can choose where to assign you and where to place you and you don't really have a choice in the matter when you sign that contract.

“It’s hard to accept something with no reason.” Chase agreed. “That seems to be the way in Starfleet though.”

"Hey at least we're together. So that's what really matters."

“Stacey grin ed. She meant it too.

“That really is the most important thing.” Chase said sincerely. It was one thing they insisted on, being together. “I have a feeling that is one thing we wont have to be concerned about.”

" I think we should check in with command." Stacey pointed out to Chase. Maybe her new department head or Captain would make sense of this nonsense.

“You’re right.” Chase nodded. “No time like the present.”

Stacey and Chase had a beautiful romantic moment, as a scene starts to fade, she starts thinking about the future they could have on the Enterprise. And I brought up even a bigger smile to your face.
