Mission: Cheese
Location: Transporter Room, Starfleet One
Timeline: 2430-08-29, 18:00

Inside the Transporter Room of Starfleet One the bodies of the away team started to materialize on the platform as Crewman Saarnosh monitored the displays. Transporter procedures had become so routine and modern place that she frequently wondered if she'd be out of a job one day. Even now transporters were becoming more and more miniaturized. Most likely they'd one day be so small they could be worn on the person instead of needing entire rooms aboard a starship.

The system flashed the notification that the rematerialization sequence was complete. She looked up at the new arrivals and hissed, "Welcome back."

"I thought we'd never be back," Xindi Reptilian President Gruzy answered with a sigh as he stepped off the platform.

"It wasn't that bad," Admiral William Teagarden said from inside the Transporter chamber.

The Federation President looked back at the Admiral, "That's a difference of opinion. I for one would have been more than happy not to have to meet with Chancellor Mogh after what happened."

The attack on the Spock was still fresh on everyone's minds, despite the fact that it had been several months ago. The efforts to establish diplomatic relations with the Dominion had been challenging and full of risk. Ultimately the were able to win the day and build a strong union between the two; nonetheless, strife had been an order of the day. The Delegation of Twenty had threatened succession from the Federation if an alliance were formed. The only thing that stopped it was the mysterious death of their leader, Councilor Caxl of Benzar. They still hadn't been able to solve his murder.

There were bigger fish to fry though and this diplomatic summit had been one such attempt. All the evidence that had been uncovered pointed to the Klingons having been behind the attack upon the Spock and the destruction of its support vessels. Repairs to the Spock were still underway, but the damage had been done. As the Klingons continue to proclaim their innocence - using the argument they don't take prisoners and would have destroyed the craft - it had only added more and more to their guilty appearance.

"At least I didn't have to kill anyone this time," William said referencing his own place in the ascension of Chancellor Mogh to become the leader of the Klingon Empire after having slain Brotak in ritual combat.

"Don't count your chickens before they're hatched. We're still in Klingon space," the President reminded with crossed arms, "and we have a long trip home."

William nodded, "Then best to get back on the road. Would you care to join me for dinner? I was thinking about Beef Banh Mi."

"Not tonight, Admiral," Gruzy replied. "I think I'm going to head back to my quarters and get some much needed rest. Would you alert me when we reach Federation Space?"

"Of course," the CO of Starfleet One answered as he walked through the door behind the President. He looked back in, "Thanks Crewman."

Akaathaan hissed, "Anytime."
