What was meant to be a routine survey for Benamite crystals in the Iocarro system nearly ended in total disaster and a catastrophic temporal paradox. Sensor interference beneath the planet's volatile crust forced an away team—led by Commander zh'Roothi and including Lieutenant Commander Datari, Counselor Laurell, and Vorta Administrator Kuzos—to descend via shuttle. A sudden seismic event swallowed the vessel, severing communications and displacing the team three centuries into Iocarro's past, just days before a planetary extinction event destroyed the native civilization.

Trapped in the past, the away team earned the trust of the Iocarran leadership by working under extreme environmental heat to stabilize their failing geothermal core. Back on the Enterprise, tensions ran high over the Temporal Prime Directive, leading to a sharp clash with Commander Bernadotte before she succumbed to acute temporal sickness. With the geothermal grid on the verge of total collapse, Transporter Operator Akaathaan Saarnosh executed a brilliant, highly dangerous transport through the chroniton field, pulling the team back aboard just as their window closed.

The away team is currently in Sickbay recovering from severe burns and chroniton shock, but their actions have fundamentally altered history. Our post-rescue scans confirm that the extinction event was averted, leaving an intact, thriving, pre-warp civilization on Iocarro today.
