Patton has just come off a meeting with command and was glad to have plans to go over to Zoey’s for dinner. It was her night to choose what they did, he had chosen dinner and dancing on the holodeck for their last one. He didn’t really care as long as they were together. She had come to mean so much to him he couldn’t imagine being without her in his life.

Stopping outside her door he smiled to himself and rang the buzzer. Patton wondered how Zoey would feel about sharing access codes so they could just let themselves in. They were getting very close.

Zoey was still trying to get ready, when she heard the door. She naturally assumed it was Patton. "Enter." She called out, from her bathroom mirror. She was curling her hair. "Sorry for not being ready, took a shower and now just finishing curling my hair." She called out, with a big smile on her face.

“I am good,” Patton called out from the other room. “I am yours for the evening, whatever you have planned I am ready and willing.”

"Careful Paddy, I will take you up on that proposition." Zoey said, in a teasing voice.

Patton grinned as he listened to her words. “Careful?” He repeated the word. “You know that I think the world of you, I throw caution to the wind when it comes to you.”

Zoey thought to herself, well its about time. For to long he stalked Jasmine. She had no idea why. She was okay, but deep in her heart, she could sense a connection between them. She appreciated hearing him say that.

"Sometimes you just have to do that. Can not live life, if its always scripted or predictable. Where is the fun in that?" Zoey asked him, with a serious look on her face.

“You make me feel alive again,” Patton confessed. “Like I don’t have to be a perception of a good officer but myself and spontaneous.”

"I'm glad, you make me feel alive as well. Love is so much better when both parties accept it with open arms." Zoey suggested to him, feeling free to express herself around him.

“I woke up this morning,” Patton said with a grin. “And my first thought was of you and how much I love you. I have never felt like this about anyone.”

Zoey leaned in to give him a kiss. Without hesitation or resistance, she leaned in as passionately as she could. She forced herself to let go, as she finally spoke after a few minutes of kissing. "I have been waiting to hear you say those words."

“I wanted to make sure I meant it,” Patton replied. “And that I could give you my whole heart.” He leaned in and kissed her. “You might get tired of it.”

"Tired of you, not likely." Zoey said, with a loving grin on her face.

Patton smiled at her as he brought his hand out from behind him, holding a bouquet of flowers. “I have never in my life done this but I wanted to for you. I hope you like them.” He was nervous, there were all kinds of flowers and everyone picked roses, he wanted something special so he chose an arrangement of hibiscus and orchids.

"They are so pretty, thank you." Zoey said, as she took the flowers, and smelled them. She then looked up at him, with big puppy eyes.

Patton sighed in relief, a grin crossed his face. "Everyone gives roses but I wanted something that was different and yet beautiful. Because you don't deserve ordinary flowers, but something special." He didn't know where this was coming from but he wanted her to know how much she meant to him.

"You don't need to get me anything, to express your feelings. Words will be more, than any tangible gift." Zoey pointed out to him.

“I wanted to,” Patton said with a smile. “I want to do the unexpected.” He grinned then. “Do I seem like a picking out flowers guy to you?”

"Yes you do, a romantic charming guy that gets his lady flowers." Zoey said, with a warm smile. She hoped he was, she liked that type of man. She did not need him too, but she hoped deep down, that he would want too.

“I loved bringing you flowers,” Patton admitted. “And I plan to surprise you even more along the way as we grow closer.” He smiled mysteriously at her. “But lot tonight, you are in charge of this evening.”

"Then continue to do so. I have no objections, just know I do not expect you to bring me flowers." Zoey said, with that warm smile.

“Understood,” Patton said with a light in his eyes. She might not expect anything but he could tell she liked it. He planned to spoil her rotten. “I like seeing the look on your face at the unexpected.”

"What about you? Do you like surprises?" Zoey asked, in a teasing and seductive voices.

“I am finding more and more I do,” Patton confessed. “Structure leaves little to the imagination and hardly any fun or enjoyment.” He smiled. “Feel free to surprise me.”

"I will hold you to that agreement." Zoey said, as she started to think about how to surprise him.

Patton smiled, wondering what kind of surprises she would come up with. Zoey has a quick mind and was so honest in her expressions and feelings to him, he was ready to see what she did. “I am looking forward to it.”

"As am I." Zoey said, with a grin. She looked around, "Where are we heading for dinner?" Zoey asked, she was not sure if they were going to the holodeck, or to the mess hall.

“Tonight is your pick,” Patton reminded her. “I chose last time and you wanted to plan this one. If you forgot I am good with anywhere as long as it’s with you.”

"To the replicator we go." Zoey said, seeing how honest he was being. She asked him, and he tried to pawn it off on her, she would teach him not to do that again. Even if she had to suffer with replicated food!

"No no, you need to decide sexy man." Zoey said, with a cute and adorable voice. She did not want to decide.

“Then let’s go to my place and I will make dinner,” Patton decided. “Then, we can go from there.”

"That works for me." Zoey said, with a big grin on her face.

Patton smiled back at her. He was looking forward to cooking her dinner. He took her hand and they headed towards his quarters.

"I forgot to mention earlier, congrats on your new assignment on the ship. Chief of Security, will you doing presidential security too?" Zoey asked, as they headed to his quarters. She was curious, if he had all of Jasmine's old assignments.

“I am taking over Haynes position,” Patton nodded. “So that would be a yes.” He paused. “I was totally upfront about being unhappy with being bounced around as well.”

"Are you still going to the first officer of the USS Spock?" Zoey asked, not sure how much his role had changed, now that Jasmine was promoted.

“I didn’t even think to ask that question,” Patton frowned. “He didn’t say I wasn’t but I will find out next shift.”(edited)

"Maybe you should." Zoey said to him, with a serious look on her face.

“I will,” Patton nodded. “We got involved in my value as a member of the crew.”

"I'm serious, you deserved that promotion to first officer on the USS Spock. Don't let this lateral promotion take that away from you." Zoey pointed out to him.

“With the Spock out of commission,” Patton said with a sigh. “I am not certain what will happen next. I plan to stand up for myself if they attempt to take that away from me. It would seem like a demotion otherwise.”

"How long will the Spock be out of commission?" Zoey asked. She got the report, but she did not think it was going to be that long.

“The Admiral was evasive in his answer,” Patton said with a frown. “He didn’t say I would still be first officer but he didn’t say I wouldn’t just that it is out of commission right now.”

"Well that sucks." Zoey said, not sure how to follow up with this line of questioning. She felt truly bad for him. His promotion to first officer, was short lived.

“I think being evasive comes with the territory,” Patton said with a grin. “He doesn’t want to make promises he can’t keep.”

"Perhaps, but it still sucks. I wonder how long the Spock will be out of commission?" Zoey asked.

“As do I,” Patton sighed. “I am hoping not too long and that once it’s up and running I will know where I stand.”

"Wherever that is, know that I will be by your side." Zoey said, with a warm loving grin. The scene starts to fade away.

“And I yours,” Patton said. “We will be together where ever the road takes us.

"I look forward to it, my love. With all the changes going on around us, at least we know we have each other." Zoey said, putting her heart out in the open. She hoped that Patton could see, that she was trying to help him. She liked the idea of seeing where the road would take them, as the scene starts to fade away.
