Mission: Atlantis
Location: Main Bridge, Starfleet One
Timeline: 2429-12-02, 09:15

A secondary copy of Galatea stood on the Bridge of Starfleet One watching the memorial service as it unfolded below. The Artificial Intelligence of the vessel was in temporary command while the Senior Staff were attending the ceremony and she and the Alpha Watch staff were monitoring the vessel in the mean time.

She received a signal from her counterpart and turned toward the Tactical Officer, "Mister Rrawran, standby to launch."

The Rorworr Lieutenant nodded. The universal translator struggled to keep up with the native sounds of his language, "Ready to fire on your command."

"We are in position," Lieutenant Yavan said from the Helm.

As they were preparing to fire, Lieutenant jav Ghulk's console had a rapid series of beeps come from it. The Tellarite officer typed on the console to find the source of the warning. "We are receiving a transmission from a nearby sector. I'm having trouble decoding."

"Source, Lieutenant," Galatea questioned as she stood next to the Captain's Chair.

"Unknown. The transmission doesn't match frequencies," he answered. "I'll try to decode the message."

The hologram approached the Ops console, "Mister Janek, please transport the two torpedoes to the launcher."

The Bandi/Vulcan nodded, "Affirmative."

"You may fire when ready," she ordered looking at the lupine officer.

As the torpedoes fired from the aft launcher, Lieutenant jav Ghulk's console trilled, "I've decoded the message. On screen."

On the viewer a distorted, jumbled message appeared. Static filled the screen as a distinctly Human looking woman spoke. "... heavy casual... Again, thi... tea... Hirai. We've str... avitic mine ... disabled... help. We... alties. Ag... Atlant... Craft Hirai..."

"It keeps repeating, Ma'am," the Tellarite informed.

Galatea turned toward the Science Station, "Are you able to track the source, Lieutenant?"

The massively tall Caldonian turned from the wall mounted console, "I have the vessel on sensors. It is approximately 7.7 lightyears away."

"Signal the closest Starfleet vessel to intercept," Galatea ordered approaching the Captain's Chair. "With the President aboard we cannot risk such a mission at this time."

"We're the only vessel in range, Ma'am," Yavan said from the Helm.

The hologram rolled her eyes, "Of course we are. I will speak with the Admiral. Standby for further instructions while I speak with him." She walked away from the Captain's Chair, "Lieutenant Yavan has the Bridge until I return."

As the hologram faded away, Lieutenant Yavan sighed. Technically, since Galatea was off the Bridge, she could order the intercept course. She also knew five seconds in Galatea would be aware and would cancel the course and bring us back to full stop as per her orders. So they would follow their orders, but that didn't stop her from programming the course while they waited.
