Jasmine started to walk away, she was curious, if he was going to chase her down. To get an answer. She had the biggest smile on her face.
“Hey!” Patton hurried after her. “What was that all about?” She didn’t stop so he doubled timed up beside her. “Jasmine.”
"He chases after the girl." She said, as she continued to walk at a brisk pace. She was smiling from ear to ear. "Good." She said, as she looked at him briefly.
“What is this, Jasmine?” Patton’s eyes narrowed. “Some kind of game?”
"Is that what I am, a game. A prize to earn." She asked, teasing him a little. Hey started it, now she was going to finish it.
Patton shook his head. “My experience when games are played it doesn’t end well. I feel like you have been testing me all night but I am not even certain what the questions are.
Whether I am passing or failing even.” He has no clue what it was with her all he knew was he couldn’t just walk away.
"Follow me then, if you want to know." She said, as they continued to walk down the corridors, till they got to the turbo lift. They both went in. After a few minutes, the lift open, and they walked out and headed towards Jasmine's place. He had no idea, where she was leading him.
Patton walked beside her, assuming she was heading to her quarters. Had he read her wrong? Was this one of those pass or fail tests again? Far as he knew there wasn’t a rule book but then he had never known a woman like Jasmine.
Jasmine walked into her quarters. She paused for a moment. She was debating on calling it a night. She thought to herself, well, you went this far. As she walked in, she said. "Have a seat on the sofa, I'm getting a drink. Can I get you anything?" She asked.
Patton thought for a moment. “Yeah, a coke.” He almost smiled. A part of him had been tempted to have another drink but he decided against it. Rules were to keep yourself in check.
Jasmine walked over the replicator, and ordered both drinks. She brought them both to the sofa, and sat next to him. Jasmine handed him, his drink. Then she kicked her feet under her legs. "Why me?" She flat out asked him.
“I’m not going to skirt around the obvious that your beautiful,” Patton said with a smile. “But that’s not why it is you. I like how you cut to the chase and say what your thinking, your dedication and I am just plain attracted to you.”
His honesty was refreshing. But he seemed to lack the natural flirting ability. She remembered John came on pretty strong. But he did it was class and flirting. This guy, was very direct. Almost in your face direct. "I was very content, being in my little bubble you know." She said, in response to his. response.
“I understand that.” Patton replied. “But sometimes it isn’t enough and a person realizes that.”
"Shouldn't I make that decision?" She asked him, curious to see if he was going to back down, and try sweet talking her. Or if he was going to hold his own.
“You are.” Patron replied evenly. “All you have to do is tell me your not interested and I will walk out that door and we will be friends, nothing more.”
"We tried that, now here we are. In my room." She said, with a serious look on her face. She was still trying to process, how she came to this moment. This was so far outside of her comfort zone.
“Which should tell you Something right there,” Patton grinned.
He was contradicting himself. Which was confusing her. He said one thing, but he did another thing. She was puzzled, and excited about style of flirting. He was persistent. Yet she was not running.
"Okay you have a small point." She said, as she took a sip from her drink. What was his end game with all of this?
“Dinner. Yes, a date,” Patton said. “We spend some time getting to know each other, we have all the time in the world. I want you to be certain whether you are on board or not.”
"A date, now that is a little fast. Don't you think?" She said. She knew she had invited him to her quarters, but it seemed to be the place to talk in private. She was intrigued by him, but not ready to make that leap yet.
“Okay I will give you that,” Patton said quietly, reminding himself to slow down, it was obvious she had been hurt before. “Then, spend time as friends and go from there but you are going to have to let me know if you when and if your ready for more.”
"Let's agree to have breakfast tomorrow, and we can discuss work and see where it goes from there." She said, hoping that was satisfactory to him. She wanted to take baby steps.
Patton nodded, smiling. “I am good with that.” He stood up. “I should get going. I make it a practice to check on my people before I go home for the night.”
She was a little disappointed he wanted to leave so soon, but she stood up and walked him to her door. "Good night." She said, as she with a big grin on her face. She kissed him on the check. As she closed the door, she smiled as she got ready for bed. The scene starts to fade.
