Mission:
Atlantis
Location: Office of the Fleet Commander, Starfleet Headquarters
Timeline: 2429-12-02, 16:00
Fleet Admiral Lynz sat at her desk at Starfleet Headquarters reading over the details on the PADD that she had been ignoring. The Starship Pioneer was preparing for departure and half a dozen other ventures throughout the galaxy were about to begin. Then there was the whole debacle that her husband had caused on Starfleet One by taking the ship even deeper into uncharted territory that he was authorized to do, but that was beside the point.
She sighed, thinking carefully about what she wanted to do next. In all honesty it was a nap. She wanted to take a nap. She also knew that that was next to impossible to happen. If anything if she were in bed before midnight and awoke later than 06:00 she had a good night.
The Admiral rose from her chair and walked toward the replicator. Pressing a control she ordered a cup of green tea when she heard the door chime. "It's open," she called out.
A humanoid 'Fox' strode into the office. One Zhephryn Chancer Kaldiran was dressed in L'Tandrey House Formal Dress Attire, very similar to old Terra Scottish formal attire. He was in a tunic, 'kilt', waist belt, kilt pouch, overcoat, cloak, and a throat medallion with his house's ancestry deeds upon it. He had just finished his final tribunal hearings with Starfleet, and they finally concurred with what the L'Tandrey Tribunals had stated. All of the hearings and tribunals occurred from a Trader captain accusing Zeph of cheating at cards with Telepathy to cover up the Trader captains really bad playing. Zeph knew he was in the right, and could only grin and bear it going through everything. This was the first test of the system put into place in the distance past when the Exchange Officers program was first created. Now, the incident was settled and over, ways to streamline it put into place, and Zeph was really wanting to spend an evening with his family, who he had not been allowed to be with since this debacle started. However, a call had come to him about Admiral Lynz needing to see him, and as he was fully reinstated as a StarFleet Captain once more, she took precedent.
As he was not sure how formal this would be, given the circumstances, he came up to her desk to wait for her to finish her tea. He said out loud, formally, while a hint of his full baritone voice with pleasing undertones sounded out, "Captain Zheph Kaldiran reporting as requested, Admiral. Is this on protocol or casual?"
"When you meet with Commander Starfleet it's always protocol, Captain," Lynz answered from her desk. "Nice to see you again, Captain, I hope that you found your way here without incident."
Zeph came to attention at hearing protocol, and then went to parade rest upon her next words. He replied, "With the other business having been taken care of, it was a nice change of pace to come at your summons, Admiral. What may I help you with today?"
"I apologize that we could not return you to your role as First Officer of Starfleet One," she began the conversation with, "but I wanted to speak with you of another option that may be presenting itself. Have a seat."
Zeph came out of parade rest, arranged his 'kilt', then sat down. "Ready and listening, Admiral."
"Allow me to begin by asking a simple question: Where do you see yourself in Starfleet at this point?"
Zeph nodded. This was a very valid question, and he had a very upfront answer. He replied, "With what has happened, being consul for streamlining the process with appropriate inquiries, and needing to get my family in order, I do not see myself as of ready yet for any XO or CO position. However, I am ready to step in for consulting support in missions, being a temp department head as needed for any areas I am trained in for vessels with those positions in transition, escort for diplomats, or missions requiring my skill set being mindful that I am L'Tandrey. Does this fit in with what the option you were considering my services for?"
"I would like to return you, for the time being, back to Starfleet One as their Chief Operations Officer. It would unfortunately come with a temporary grade reduction; however, while there, your abilities would be able to help serve Federation interests and experiences with the L'Tandrey." She thought it over, "In that role I would like for you to also keep me up to speed on the events on that ship."
Zeph smiled as 'yiffer', a pleasant sound, came from his muzzle. He replied, "I will gladly accept step into that role and keep you enlightened about developments on the ship, Admiral. As far as the grade reduction, that is expected when stepping into needed roles on starships. I will gladly accept it as I would be serving the needs for Starfleet." He yiffered lightly in humor as he added, "I don't know if you're aware of this, but on service, I will be with Starfleet for about another 90 years. L'Tandrey are long lived and that would put me at about, say, age 63 Terran years when I reach the age of 152 Terran years, or 98 Solas my time. Of course, that would be dependent upon Starfleet and how long they would let an L'Tandrey in service."
"You never know then, Commander, one day you may be sitting in my chair," the Fleet Admiral said with a sly grin. "The Starship Wolverine is heading to rendezvous with Starfleet One due to an emergency involving one of their crew that is requiring her return to Earth. It's leaving in less than an hour though. You'll have to hurry."
Zeph stood up while replying, "That is very short notice. I will do my best. Final quick question, may I take any family with me?"
"It's not a family ship, Commander," Lynz answered before pausing. "I think that the Admiral will make an exception in this instance since they lived aboard the ship with you before. It should be fine. Get to the Wolverine, Commander, you're getting low on time."
"Understood, Admiral. I will only take two who will benefit the mission. They will rotate as missions change. Thank you Admiral." Zeph turned and strode out quickly as her final command of 'get to the Wolverine' was equivalent to 'dismissed'. He was already in telepathic communication with his wives and final fiance as he headed directly for the Wolverine. Two wives and one fiance was packing, the other two wives would meet him at the ship.
Lynz smiled as the alien Operations Officer left, "Same old Zeph..."
