Mission: 749148
Location: New Vulcan
Timeline: 2430-09-08, 11:00

Kikula stood steadfastly near the large transporter platform as the away team from Starfleet One materialized before her. She was excited for what was to come, but also not looking forward to it much either. It had not been long since the duplicitous Admiral Coulson had sabotaged their colony and brought them to the border of destruction; only a short time after they found out that Starfleet was going to jointly administrate the New Vulcan Colony after their original announcement that they would be on their own. Actually she was downright angry about it. New Vulcan had been intended to be a safehaven for all Vulcan citizens who had chosen to remain within the Federation, unaffected by the oppression of Starfleet. Now they were forced back into it.

Despite looking Vulcan, Kikula was a born and bred Romulan whom had made the Federation her home. Having been born shortly before the destruction of her homeworld, Kikula was a refugee whom had grown up on the planet Vashti under the watchful eye of the Qowat Milat. While she had studied their ways, learning about Absolute Candor, she also had learned that she was not suitable to live the life of a nun. Instead she chose to allow her emotions to guide her, to rule her life, and it had been a challenge every day of her life. Not to mention it drew her to the wrong crowd dozens upon dozens of times.

She sighed, briefly rubbing her ridgeless forehead denoting her origination on the Southern hemispheres of the Romulan Homeworld. She then realized that the transport cycle was complete and everyone had seen her rather annoyed display. She immediately moved to get them back on track.

“Welcome to New Vulcan,” she greeted with a smile as she approached the platform. “I am Kikula of the civilian government. On behalf of the citizens of the Confederacy of New Vulcan welcome to our homeworld.”

"Greetings Kikula. I am Commander Randall, Chief Engineering Officer, Starfleet One. Thank you for the warm welcome. It is a pleasure to meet you." The Tuansee responded, with a slight nod of her head in respect for the Government Representative. If the engineering officer had seen her display of annoyance she wasn't letting on and seemed genuinely pleased to meet her. "Feel free to call me Ash, BTW. Hardly anyone knows me by my Sir name but, in formal introductions as a representative of Starfleet and, by extension, The Federation, I am obliged to confuse others for the sake of protocol." She mused, while her tail swished in amusement.

The Romulan woman nodded in response to the alien Chief Engineer of the starship. "Welcome to New Vulcan, Commander Ash. If you and your party will come with me I will escort you to colonial operations." The Romulan's voice was matter-of-fact and not too dissimilar to that of a Vulcan. Stepping into the main courtyard she walked steadfastly, "Starfleet One is well known in the history of this world, having been instrumental in its establishment only a handful of years ago. We have grown since then; however, the overall colony still remains rooted in the ideals of the era in which it was created. While initially the world was to be a home of Vulcans, multiple races now call this world home. I, for instance, am Romulan."

"I have been asked to make arrangements for you to reach your designated assignments," she informed as a group of Vulcan children played among Romulans nearby. "Commanders Bishara and O'Sullivan, Lieutenant Blake, you have been assigned to work on our offensive grids to help bring them back online. Our Security Center is down this walkway," she motioned in the direction of the building with sharp, angular features.

"Yes ma'am." Patton replied immediately. "We will work diligently to get them back to speed."

Absently watching the children playing nearby Dylan acknowledged the assignment mutely, he was disappointed he wasn't working alongside Chire but suspected they wouldn't be permitted such luxury based on what happened on Ni'Var. He glanced toward the building their host had indicated: it looked menacing with it's formidable features causing the Lieutenant to wandered what else was housed there.

Kikula looked at the remaining three, "Starfleet would like you to work with resetting our sensors. Admiral Coulson disabled the entire system with his departure, we have not been able to get passed the restart sequence since."

Ash flicked her ears in what amounted to surprise and nodded. "Be happy to help in any way we can, of course." The engineer responded with a glance to Snow and Chire. "I wonder if Coulson..." She started and then shook her head. "...Best to not speculate before we've had a look." She chided herself but ti was obvious that the Tuansee had a hypothesis to investigate.

"You are free to navigate to the sensor grid at your leisure," the Romulan woman informed. "Directional information has been uploaded to your datapads."

Ash consulted her PADD for the directional information described and found it, as advertised. "Very good..." She replied. "We'll get a move on then." She added and nodded a good day to Kikula while she consulted the directions and got her bearings to lead the way.
