"Hey you, we have not really had a chance to talk about your big promotion." Zoey said with a big grin, as she walked into the mess hall on Starfleet One with Paddy. She knew, there was some tension with the crew. She did not mind, she was proud of him. She would miss him, when he was deployed though.

“I was caught off guard,” Patton admitted. “I never expected that to happen, I was surprised and excited at the same time. The only downfall is that sometimes I won’t be able to see you.”

"Well you deserve it. Heard a few of the department heads are upset." Zoey said, trying to point out the reality of the situation to him. Personally, she was happy for him.

“They are and I can’t blame them but at the same time I have worked just as hard as they have.” Patton said quietly. “Every single one of them would be feeling like I am right now.”

"This is your time to shine, and I am so glad to see you are getting that chance." Zoey said, with a big grin on her face.

“You are beautiful!” Patton said with a smile. “I am so glad you were assigned here.”

"I would be lying if I said, I did not feel the same." Zoey told him, as she pulled him in close, for a small kiss.

Patton kissed her back for a moment. He pulled back when the person behind them in line cleared his throat. “I guess we should get our food and find a table.” He grinned at her not caring about those behind them.

"Yes..." Zoey said, trying to recollect her thoughts, then it dawned on her, not here. She was no side show performance for the crew. "Yes, good idea." Zoey said, as they started to make their way up the line.

Once his tray was filled, Patton found them a table and waited for Zoey to sit down and then took a seat. He smiled at her. “You make me forget where I am.”

"Is that a good thing?" Zoey asked, hoping he said yes. She liked the fact, he made her feel the same way. But she liked it. She liked being close to him.

“It definitely is,” Patton grinned at her. “Life is for the living and special moments like this.” He looked at her. “It sounds corny but it’s true, moments are special with you.”

"Why thank you, and I dont mind corny responses like that. It's nice to feel appreciated, you know?" Zoey asked him, hoping he knew how she felt.

“I do,” Patton murmured. “No one has ever made me feel special like you do.” It was true Zoey made him feel worth so much.

"Any plans for the night?" Zoey asked, hoping he had some down time. She really wanted to spend some time with him. She wanted less teasing, and more quality time. Her attraction to him, was physical. But she wanted it to be more.

"I am free," Patton informed her. "What did you want to do?" He was pretty much up for anything as long as they spent time together and got to know more about each other.

"That's a dangerous question to ask a girl." Zoey said, with a big grin on her face. She smiled at him, and staring into his eyes, they were saying alot, without any words being said.

“It would be if I didn’t trust her,” Patton said with a wide smile. “But not with you, we always have a good time.”

"That we do, still wondering what you want to do tonight?" Zoey asked with a big grin on her face.

“Something holodeck?” Patton asked her. “Or something like a movie, some games or something else?”

"I have no preference, as long as your their, by my side." Zoey said, with a big grin on her face.

“Lets do holodeck,” Patton grinned. “Where would you like to go? Anything you have always wanted to do or see?”

"Who's leading this date, you or me?" Zoey asked. She wanted that sexy, strong and independant man to come out, and show his confidence. And she had no particular place in mind, as long as he was there.

“I am,” Patton nodded. “Lets go dancing, I am aching to see you dance with me. Then we will go from there.”

"You can dance, this I have to see." Zoey said, with a big grin on her face. She was curious, to see how good or how bad he was.

“I am a good dancer,” Patton said with a smile. “You will see.”

"I'm so looking forward to this, lead the way." Zoey said, with a playful grin on her face.

“You and me both,” Patton said with a smile. “It will be fun to spend some time away from the ship and crew on a holodeck, dancing with you.”

"I dunno the crew seem to like you. You did after all get that big promotion." Zoey said, as she grinned at him. He was chosen over several senior department heads for the role as first officer, on the USS Spock.

“Yeah I am sure that didn’t go over well with some of them,” Patton replied. “But most have been good about it.”

"Most? You're referring to Jasmine aren't you? Forget about her." Zoey said, trying to be supportive, yet slightly annoyed.

“Jasmine?” Patton frowned. “I wasn’t even thinking of her. I mean it has gotten back to me that she isn’t happy but I was referring to those in line for promotion that were expecting it before it was given to me. Why would I single her out? I am one hundred percent with you.”

"Are you, to exclude her, tells me that you are not fully over her. But we can work on that." Zoey said, with a nervous grin. She could tell, that he was hiding it, but he still had feelings for her. Not that he can blame her. She was very attractive.

Patton almost protested. “I suppose you are right, emotions don’t just turn on and off at a hat but one thing I do know. I have no interest in being with her, I want to be with you.”

"That is a good start." Zoey said, as she pulled him close. "I want to be with you as well." She said, with a big grin on her face. Unlike others, she was not afraid to express her feelings, to early in a relationship.

“I am glad you feel that way,” Patton smiled at her, holding her hand. “I am excited at this ‘start’ for us. You have me believing in things I wasn’t certain were possible.”

"Anything is possible, when you open your mind to the possibility." Zoey said, as she gently squeezed his hand.

“Trust me I am open to you and I bring together,” Patton smiled. “Learning what you like and don’t like, what is important to you and sharing mine as well.”

"I totally agree." Zoey said, as she looked to Patton's eyes. "Do you like to spend time in the holodeck?" She asked, with a curious look on her face.

“I haven’t been on it all that much,” Patton confessed. “I want to show you a good time and there isn’t really anywhere on the ship I can take you dancing or out on the town.”

"Show me a good time." Zoey said, as she eyes lit up. "I like the sound of that?" She said with a big grin. "What do you have in mind?"

Patton looked at her and smiled. "I mentioned dinner and dancing earlier. Are you on board or would you rather do something else?"

"Sounds perfect." Zoey said with a grin, she did not want to look to easy. If he said, he wanted to go to his place to watch a movie, she would have said yes, and probably watch very little of the movie.

“Shall we?” Patton said with a smile as he took her hand in his. “I am anxious to dance the night away with you.” They headed towards the holodeck as the scene starts to fade.
