Patton walked down the corridor, heading back to his quarters when he did something totally out of the normal for him. He didn’t drink much, seldom if ever but tonight he felt like having a beer.

He turned and headed to the bar, taking a seat at the counter he waited for the bartender to finish serving a drink to the man at the other end. It was a quiet night it seemed, just him and the guy at the other end.

The Bolian moved down towards the waiting Commander. "Good evening," he greeting him pleasantly with a smile. "What can I get you?"

“A Guinness,” Patton said with a sigh. “Or any good Irish beer.”

The corner of Jeyson's lips turned slightly at the choice having made sure he kept a supply on board following the ship off duty event recently. "Of course Commander."

From the corner of his eye Jeyson continued to talk as he began to pour: "I don't recall seeing you come into the lounge very often Commander," he continued.

“I think this may be my second time.” Patton admitted. “I didn’t feel like going home. Too much thinking without a solution, know what I mean?”

"I believe so," the Bolian nodded passing Patton his drink. "Starfleet certainly mould some very intelligent personnel, the problems you all face on daily basis are enough to befuddle me, let alone the ones that leave you flummoxed."

Patton grinned at his words. “Flummoxed? That is a new one for me.” He sighed then. “Mine is the trouble that is as old as time, a woman.”

"Ah that old sore spot," Jeyson winked. "Now that one I most certainly understand. This women, I take it is someone special to you I assume?" The Barmen straightened realising he'd over stepped his professional place. "Though if you don't wish to say any more I can leave you to your thoughts."

“I’m good,” Patton smiled. “It actually might help to have some advice.” He looked at him and continued. “I’m not one of those men who looks at every woman I meet, in fact I wasn’t even looking. I have had some bad luck as of late but when I saw her, I knew she would be special to me.”

"Love at first sight, or so they say?" The barman lent upon the counter, "Does she know you feel this way?"

“She knows I am interested,” Patton said. “And I sense she is, but she will throw up a roadblock. I can tell she likes me too.”

"Remember women are from Venus and men from Mars," Jeyson explained with a smirk. "Sometimes we don't see eye to eye. At least she acknowledges your advances take victory in that."

“True,” Patton grinned. “She isn’t pulling out a phaser and shooting me right between the eyes.” He shook his head. “She is worth all the hoops, I really like her.”

"So why the trouble?"

“She is getting over a relationship,” Patton replied. “I m doing my best to be patient, tonight is one of those nights where I just had a low point. I mean she could have anyone, why me?”

"I see," Jeyson nodded before bidding the male at the other end of the bar goodnight. Then giving Patton his full attention the barmen eyed him closely. "Why wouldn't she? You'll a fine example of human male."

Patton grinned. “I am, and being Irish just makes me more appealing! I am feeling more optimistic.” He looked at Jeyson. “I really like this woman.”

"Then I suggest you give her more time," the barman stood once more. "After all you're not planning to go anywhere are you?"

“Not on your life,” O’Sullivan grinned. “This is my home, the first place I really felt I belonged.”

Jeyson smirked. "I know what you mean."

“Anyone ever tell you that your good at this?” Patton said with a smile. He liked the bartender and planned to drop in every so often for a drink and a visit.

"Once or twice," Jeyson's smile bloomed; "Being impartial helps."

Patton nodded. “I can see the advantages to that for both sides. You have nothing to gain.”

"I wouldn't say that," the barman replied. "I gain your respect and trust. I think the Ferengi would say that was priceless."

“That is true,” Patton nodded. “I now have a place to go and someone to listen.”

Jeyson spread his arms: "You know where to find me when that need arrives again."

“Thanks man,” Patton replied as he finished his drink.
