Title: Getting to know each other

After walking Jasmine home, they had made plans to meet up the next evening. He was going to her place to watch a movie and get to know each other better. Ryan wasn't reading anything into this, Jasmine was going through a lot. He knew kind of what it was, having suffered loss himself. The thing for him was for the first time since his wife had passed, he felt an interest in someone.

Walking down the corridor, he stopped outside her quarters and waited a moment, then rang the buzzer.

Jasmine smiled as she thought to herself, punctual and on time. She walked over to the door. To meet him at door and with a big grin on her face, her body said wbat her lips said. "Come in. I'm so glad you could make it." Jasmine said as she allwed him to walk in.

“I’ve been looking forward to this all day,” Ryan admitted. “As well as your choice of movie.” He wanted to see what taste she had, was it romantic, action asventure horror among others.

"Have a seat, was about to replicate some buttered popcorn." Jasmine called out, as she motioned him over to her sofa. "I hope that is okay." Jasmine asked.

“Sounds good to me,” Ryan smiled. “How was your day? I had a few meetings but pretty normal.”

"I wish I could say that, between working with the President's security team and my own, it was a long day. But that is behind me now. I doubt either of us, really want to chat about work." Jasmine said, as she walked over to the replicator, and input her request.

“Not at all,” Ryan agreed as he sat down. “We have better things to think about and do.”
"What kind of girl do you think I am, I just invited you over for a movie." Jasmine pointed out to him.

Ryan smiled easily. “That was what I was talking about. A movie and getting to know each other.”

"I am not a stranger to dating or having men over. Deep down, all men want sex. Don't deny it, or I might have to vette you." Jasmine suggested to him, in her security tone.

“If you are honest all men and women want sex,” Ryan corrected her. “But it isn’t always why we spend the evening with someone and I want to do this right. I want to know you first and see where this takes us.”

"Now that is not based on evidence. Most women want sex, but not on date one. Unlike men, they know from minutes of meeting a partner, that they want too. And you have already decided you want too, haven't you. In your own manly way, that tells me you are interested in me. Now is it only for looks or is there more?" Jasmine asked him, and gave him a questionable eyebrow look.

"For more," Ryan replied without even having to think about it. "I won't lie, you are beautiful but I want more than just a night together."

"I see, what more do you see. Surely you saw this question coming." Jasmine asked him, waiting to hear, his probably rehearsed line.

“Honestly,” Ryan sighed. “Other than being attracted to you I don’t have some set plan. I want to see if what I believe is between us is real and something we both want.”

"Cheesy lines, will work on me. What we both want." Jasmine chuckled, thinking nice line. But she was not going to fall for it. This was a two way relationship, they both got a say, and had there own ideas.
It has been a long time since I tried to impress a woman,” Ryan admitted. “I haven’t been looking until I saw you and something stirred inside me.” He smiled. “That May be cheesy as well but it’s honest.”

"Honesty turns my heart on to a potential partner." Jasmine suggested, as she walked over to the sofa, and sat next to him, making sure to put the popcorn between them. Like a barrier.

Ryan reached over and took a handful. “Then your heart will be listening a lot because the truth is something that sets a person free.”

"What if I don't want to be free, just free of my burdens?" Jasmine asked, curious to see how he was going to answer her question.

“There is nothing wrong with letting go of what is holding you back,” Ryan said quietly. “And picking up with something else on the way.”

"And what is that, you appear to be on a roll?" Jasmine asked, with a big grin on her face. She was curious, to see what he was going to say.
“For me personally,” Ryan returned. “It is living for today and everyday forward, to leaving the past where it is and focusing on what is important and I don’t have to tell you that You are a part of it.”

"I wish I was, I find myself trapped in the past." Jasmine said, wondering if she was ready to talk about the elephant in the room. Was she ready to let him go?

“Is there anything I can do to help?” Ryan asked quietly. “Just listen if you want. I have been there in my own way.”

"You're already doing it." Jasmine said, as she resifted her body, suggesting subconsciously, that she was comfortable around him on the soda.

“I am glad to hear that,” Ryan said, relaxing a bit. He put his arm across the back of her couch. “What do you think you need to let go?”

Jasmine noticed his move, he was taking a small step, trying to be close to her. She appreciated this approach. She did not like the way Paddy came onto her. Which was sad, cause he was Irish, like her. "That is not an easy question to answer." Jasmine told him, as she got a little defensive. It was more personal, than she wanted to get.

Ryan chose to change the subject, sensing she wasn’t comfortable with what he had asked her. “Do you have any brothers or sisters?”

"Only child, what about you?" Jasmine asked, with a big grin on her face. She always wanted to be in a big family. Sadly that never happened. She always told herself, if she had kids, she would have a big family. But she was 28 and kid less.

“I am the youngest of eight,” Ryan confessed. “When I was a kid I always wished for a few less older siblings but I wouldn’t trade them for anything.”

"I'm jealously, I always wanted a large family." Jasmine pointed out to him. She wondered what it was like, to have brothers and sisters.

“I will gladly share mine,” Ryan smiled. “My sisters were always using me for makeovers. It was embarrassing.

"I could use someone to help me with my make overs." Jasmine suggested with a big grin on her face.

Ryan laughed. “You will never see the picture of me with curlers in my hair if I can help it.” He loved seeing her happy.

"Could be a good look for you." Jasmine suggested, egging him on a little bit. She wondered, what he would look like with curlers in his hair.

“One day I’ll take you to meet the clan,” Ryan said with a smile. “There are a lot of us I have over twenty nieces and nephews.”

"One day." Jasmine said, deep down that sounded nice. But she was still trying to get over John. She was on the right path.

“How are things going,”’Ryan asked her, changing the subject. He didn’t want her to feel he was pushing. “With security?”

"I believe you know how things are going, we work together." Jasmine said, feeling bad for being so cold on the topic. "I did not mean that to come out so mean, one day soon. I am still trying to get over John." Jasmine pointed out to Ryan. He was a good start, to getting over him.

“You weren’t cold,” Ryan smiled. “I don’t want to seem pushy and the last time I talked to you about work you were upset over being passed over. I wondered how that went on a friend level not an professional one.”

"I rather talk about personal matters, that is still a tender topic. But I am getting over it." Jasmine suggested to him. She rather talk about anything else. Even the topic of John.

“Understood,” Ryan nodded sincerely. “I am just today feeling settled in here. I thought I lacked light.”

"I have been meaning to ask you, how you have been settling in? Glad to hear it its going well." Jasmine suggested with a grin.

“It is going a lot better than I expected,”’Ryan admitted. “I am finding my way here rather quickly.”

"I am happy to hear that, hopefully the ship's personal are very friendly, and pleasing to be around?" Jasmine asked, with a grin on her face.

“I haven’t run into anyone yet who wasn’t,” Ryan replied. “But I know there will be someone who isn’t. There is one in every crowd.”

"I hope not, this is a special ship, everyone needs to be at the top of their game, and we need perfect unity." Jasmine pointed out, but thinking deep down, that the one for her was Paddy. She hated how aggressive he was. She tried not to believe it though. He was a capable officer, that was given a promotion over her. So she was still sore about it.

“You like everyone on this ship?” Ryan asked her with interest. “There isn’t anyone who gets under your skin and yet in a crisis you would save them?”

"It's my job as Chief of Security, to save everyone, I possibly can." Jasmine responded, avoiding the first half of his question, with that broad answer.

“That isn’t what I meant but it’s good,” Ryan smiled. “I have confidence in you and your team, you know your stuff and we are lucky to have you.”

"I do my best, and I take my job very seriously." Jasmine pointed out to him, hoping that he could see why she was so on edge.

“I get it,” Ryan nodded. “You have a responsibility most couldn’t phathom.”

"Your job is no slouch, your job is just as important as mine." Jasmine pointed out to him.

“It is,” Ryan agreed. “But in different ways than yours. I am more on the administration side of things now.”

"You choose to keep the orange shirt, you could have been a starship Captain." Jasmine pointed out to him, with a big grin on her face.

“I could have,” Ryan nodded in agreement. “But at the end of the day I chose differently. Someday I might have regrets but So far I think it was the best choice.”

"Why is that?" Jasmine asked, expecting to hear some cheesy line, about meeting her. She was starting to like him. She was taking a liking to him.

“I like the job,” Ryan replied seriously. “It is a nice change and challenging it a different way.” He paused. “And I am making some friendships here as well as having met you.”

"Just friendships?" Jasmine asked, with a curious look on her face. She hoped to hear some cute line. She feared he would say something insane like Paddy did.

“Yes with some of the others,” Ryan murmured. “With you, it is more than friendship, I feel like we have a connection, something worth building on if things keep going the way they have.”

"I feel that connection too, which scares me." Jasmine said, a little nervous. She was not running or fighting to push him away. She was working through this complex moral dilemma, she was facing. Clinging on to an old love, or embracing a new one. So hard to choose.

“And I can sense that,” Ryan murmured. “Which is why I am letting this go at your pace. I want you to be sure.”

"What about your needs?" Jasmine asked, liking what she was hearing. But he had to be fair to himself, as well as to herself.

“I am getting to spend time with you,” Ryan smiled. “Getting to know you better is important to me. It may seem like it isn’t fair but I am willing to put those aside for now.

"Cute and romantic, but totally not my question." Jasmine said, as she decided not to let him off that easy. She wanted honesty.

“Fair enough,” Ryan murmured. “But my needs are not the important thing at the moment. I like spending time with you and enjoy our conversations. In time should we continue on and things become more serious then those needs will be met.”

"He says all the right things, but I find it a little hard to believe that you are not looking for something a little more serious." Jasmine pointed out to him. He would not be this invested, unless he liked her.

“I would like for us to become serious at some point,” Ryan said quietly. “But that isn’t something that is on the table at this point. You are working through some things and I have been there. Even if it ends up that doesn’t happen we can still be friends.”

Jasmine leaned in to kiss him, she gently pulled his face closer to his. Unlike with Paddy it did not feel forced on her part. Which scared her. She was kissing him, and it did not freak her out.

Ryan wanted to wrap his arms around her and pull her close kissing her deeply but instead he let her kiss him, then kissed her back.

Jasmine pulled away, a little shocked at her own behavior. "Sorry about that, I just wanted too. And I was curious, how I would react." She started to say, realizing she was not making sense.

“I was curious as well,” Ryan confessed. He knew her emotions were being pulled in two directions. He didn’t want her to be embarrassed. “No need to apologize I understand.”

"You are very...." Jasmine said, as she felt the urge to kiss him again. She did not stop, she allowed herself, to fully engage the moment. She was lost in a romantic trance.

Ryan let his hands come around her as they kissed one another. He was torn, wanting to deepen it but not wanting to scare her off. His passion for her was spiraling but he let her take the lead for now.

Jasmine continued to kiss him, as she took a breath for a brief moment, and said. "Sweet...." She started to say, as she went to kissing him again. Slowly she managed to get what she wanted to say out, in between kissing him passionately. "Sincere......and......desirable.......I'm.......sorry, but can't help it." Jasmine managed to say, as she pulled away. And stopped kissing him. She felt like a little school kid, caught up in the moment.

Ryan watched her, smiling softly. “It is okay Jasmine.” He reaches out and pushed her hair back behind her ear as an excuse to touch her. “You are allowed to feel.. to have passion and want to have someone for yourself.”

"John is in a comma on a starfleet bed, they said his chances are grim. He would want me to move on." Jasmine said, thinking if she was going to kiss him, and like him, she needed to be honest with him.

“You knew him better than anyone I would think,” Ryan murmured. He wasn’t going to comment on John, he didn’t know him. “But if he loved you, he would want to to be happy.”

"Slow down turbo. Do you really want to discuss my current boyfriend?" Jasmine asked, getting a little defensive. She did not need him telling her, how she felt or how John felt about her. She already knew that.

“I was wrong,” Ryan nodded. “I apologize, I was trying to make you feel better but that was definitely the wrong thing to say.” He felt bad and hoped she would see he was sincere. It hadn’t been meant the way she had taken it but he had been wrong to say it.

Jasmine appreciated his sincerity, she reached out for his hand. And interlocked her fingers, with his. She smiled as she said. "I appreciate that, and I am not sure what this is, but I like it. I think you do too. I want to believe, its a start to something new." Jasmine said to him, waiting to here what Ryan had to say.

“You are right I do like it,” Ryan replied with a smile of his own. “I think we are at the beginning of something special.” He was relieved that she seemed to have forgiven him.”Only time will tell and we have a lot of that.”

Jasmine still had her fingers locked in with his. She was trying to open up, but it was hard. Her emotions were still on John. But she needed to face facts, he was in a comma. And showed no signs of waking up from it.

Jasmine then smiled as she went on to say. "What are your intentions with me Ryan?" Jasmine flat out asked him. She needed to know, was this all a ploy to have sex, was this something truly special? Was he in it for the challenge, to break a woman when she is most vulnerable?

“I don’t want to pressure you,” Ryan began. “Or make you nervous so remember you asked me.” He looked in her eyes. “I am looking for a relationship with you. One built on many things because I believe you are special and given the chance we will have something meaningful.”

Jasmine cut him off, when he said meaningful, with a passionate kiss. She had no idea, where it came from. But the more he spoke, the more she wanted to kiss him. The moment was pretty intense for her. In this moment, she had forgotten about John.

Ryan was surprised when Jasmine kissed him with such passion. He instinctively kissed her back, lost in the moment of finally holding her in his arms and being able to show his feelings more.

Jasmine was caught up in the moment. He was very sweet an sincere. And as much as she hated to admit it, she started to like him. Jasmine did not want to stop kissing him, she wanted this moment to last.

Ryan didn’t want to break the moment and at the same time he didn’t want he to freak out if things went further than she was comfortable with. He pulled back for a moment and was about to speak but her eyes pulled him back and he kissed her.

They continued to kiss, until the passion and hormones, threw herself on top of his lap. She had not done something like this since John. They reality sunk in. She pulled away slowly, but was still on his lap.

Ryan’s eyes were on her, he could sense she was running what had happened over in her mind. He almost spoke but decided to leave it up to her. She needed to work through this and any words he said might make her defensive.

Jasmine was surprised by his silence. She looked into his eyes. She was wondering what he was thinking. She decided to ask. "What is on your mind?" She asked.

“That I have never felt this deep moved in my life,” Ryan admitted. “My feelings are deepening quickly and I don’t want to move too fast so I am resisting out of respect for you.”

"I see." Jasmine said, as she moved her hands down to his ribs on either side, and started place her hands under his shirt. She leaned in. "Am I am making it harder to resist?" Jasmine said, as her hands started to snake their way up his rock hard abs, to his chest area and then around the back side of his body.

“Ah...” Ryan’s eyes filled with passion. “Resist? Did I mention I was resisting? I am all yours baby.” He leaned in and kissed her once more.

Jasmine smiled as she pushed his chest back, stopping him from kissing her. "Pitty, I liked it when you were resisting my advancement." Jasmine said, with a playful grin on her face. She liked teasing him a little bit. She was curious, how he was going to respond.

Ryan looked at her with a smile on his face. “You like it when I play hard to get? Okay, Ms. Haynes, convince me then.” He smiled as he stared in her eyes.

"Convince you?" Jasmine said, as she hands started to explore every inch of his back. His well defined muscle tone, was stimulating to her. She started to kiss his shoulders, going up to his neck, in a cute and romantic way. Her lips where warm and soft to the touch.

Ryan moaned, he couldn’t help it. Jasmine was setting him on fire. It wouldn’t be long now and he would be doing some exploring of his own.

Jasmine continued not relenting at all. Her lips kept gently sucking on his neck, as she whispered. "Are you convinced?" She asked, as she pressed on.

"I am," Ryan whispered, passion filling his voice. He reached out and took a hold of the edge of her top, putting his own hands up inside and caressed her skin, tipping his head to give her more access to his neck.

Jasmine debated about stopping him. But she grabbed his hands, and worked her way behind her back. She unclipped her bra, as the scene starts to fade away.
