Mission: Genesis
Location: Stateroom, USS Spock
Timeline: 2430-01-09, 10:00

"Sorry about the accommodations, Mister President, but this is the best we have."

President Gruzy of New Xindus looked around the small stateroom in a bit of surprise. Located on the upper level of the Starship Spock, the two occupant cabin was cozy in its design. Featuring bunk beds built into the wall opposite the door, a closet took up one other wall, and a workstation the other. It was not what any of them were designed for, but it was only for a short while.

"It'll be fine, Crewman," the Reptilian Xindi answered from next to the workstation. "Thank you for escorting me."

"My pleasure, Mister President," he said looking in surprise as two others approached. "What's going on ch'Lar?"

"I have orders to escort Secretary Grayson to this stateroom," the Andorian crewman explained.

The man who escorted the President - a Crewman named Napier the President thought - shook his head, "This cabin's been assigned to the President for our trip."

"We've got limited space aboard," the Andorian answered. "This is the only stateroom available. Admiral Luzol took the other with her Mother in Law and children."

"Five people in one room?" The President interrupted incredulously. "That sounds like a full house."

"Tell me about it," the Andorian answered with Secretary Grayson nearby.

Gruzy smiled, "I'm happy to share a room with Secretary Grayson. You guys just get to tell Commander Haynes. Come on it, Mister Secretary."

"Thank you Mr. President." Jonathan answered as he moved into the tiny stateroom. "I'm sorry for the inconvenience Mr. President." Jon looked at the bunk beds. "Have you got a preference as to which bed you want Mr. President?"

The Xindi smiled, "No preference and call me Gruzy. Mister President is too formal."

Jonathan nodded, "Thank you Mr. Pres.... I mean Gruzy and please call me Jon or Jonathan it is after all my name." he looked around the small quarters. My college dorm room was bigger than this." He said with a grin.

"I don't doubt that," he said with a smile. "I may have to make a law or something to benefit the crewmembers of Starfleet so these types of rooms don't exist anymore. They'd probably lump them all in some other type of barracks though if I did," he continued as he looked around. "At least we're in good company."

Jon shook his head and chuckled, "Of course they would. There are always wats to circumvent laws. Even those made by the Prseident."

The Spock hologram appeared, momentarily, with them, "Please excuse the interruption, Mister President, but we are receiving a secure transmission for you from Earth."

The President nodded, "Duty as always calls. Relay it."

The Xindi watched as, before them, the hologram of Spock was replaced by one of an Andorian. The President smiled as his Secretary of Defense appeared before them, "Secretary th'Zaanaq. If you're calling something must be wrong."

Ras stood with his hands behind his back and gave the President a respectful bow. “Mr President, I hope things are going well there, sir?” He asked his tone respectful.

"Hardly I'm afraid. The Dominion abruptly left the negotiations after conceding to all of our terms. Now I'm on my way to Starbase 375 while Admiral Teagarden takes Enterprise to investigate the Dominion departure." He looked at Secretary Grayson then back to the Andorian.

The Andorian nodded, “That might not be a bad thing, Mr President. I’ve just had Ambassador Caxl of Benzar in my office producing a list of 20 worlds who oppose the negotiations.”

"Why am I not surprised our illustrious Benzite Ambassador is somehow involved?" He looked at Ambassador Grayson too as it said it. "He was only able to bring 20 worlds over to his side? What are they threatening us with this time?"

Looking back at the President, Jon wanted to laugh "Twenty worlds? That isn't even a serious threat. That's nothing." He observed But he knew they could be thorns in the side of the administration in moving forward with negotiations and other items the administration wanted to push through.

“It maybe something, Mister Grayson. They’re willing to secede from the Federation.” The Andorian replied coolly. “This could plunge the Federation into its darkest hour yet. I believe more will follow. We’re on the brink of war with the Klingons over this mess. We have to take this seriously, Mister President.”

The Xindi nodded, knowing full well that 20 worlds was not a lot but it could potentially be the start of something far, far worse. "We'll take this threat seriously. So far we have yet to sign a Treaty and Enterprise is investigating. We'll wait..."

The door chime chirped nearby, "Excuse me a moment, Mister Secretary. Enter."

The President was happy to see his Security Chief join him. He had sent her away to secure some personal items for the trip, "Hello, Commander. I believe you know Secretaries Grayson and you may not have met Secretary th'Zaanaq," he motioned to the hologram.

"Commander Haynes, nice to see you again. As you can see were safe, secure and snug." Jon said with a smile.

“A pleasure to meet you, Commander.” Ras said through his holographic avatar.

The entire Starship Spock shook from an external impact, the lights quickly dropping and shutting down. Inside the small cabin the hologram of Secretary th'Zaanaq vanished as the power dropped. The single workstation erupted into sparks as the entire Starship Spock lost power and started to drift.

"What the Hell is going on?" The President asked holding onto his bunk.

"Haynes to the bridge, the President wants a sit rep," Jasmine called out from his room. She was trying to do a visual inspection, making sure Gruzy was alright.

"Standby."

The Reptilian Xindi waved away the fuss, "I'm fine. Ambassador Grayson are you well?"

"I'm fine sir." Jon answered, "Shaken but unbowed as well as unbloodied." He looked over at Haynes. "We're drifting."

The President of the Federation felt another impact, this time losing his footing and having to grab the railing along the wall to stay upright. "That felt stronger than a torpedo or phaser hit. Almost like a ship exploding." He sighed, "We have to get a sit rep. Go to the Bridge. I'll be fine. We all will."

"What is going on?" Jon questioned, "We didn't receive any reports of other ships in the area." But he knew that Hawkins and the rest of the command team may have well received a notice but then why keep it from the President? Unless there wasn't any time to tell him.

Gruzy shrugged, "You're right, but we need to make ourselves useful if we're going to survive this. Let's go to the Bridge. That way we can see where we need to be and how best to make ourselves useful."
